Guest guest
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!! Namaste! this is the second attempt at this...cyberspace seems to have eaten the last one....we'll see.... i checked GJ's version of Swami Vivekanandaji's birth stats with the ones provided by the Ramakrnsa Math, through their Biography of Swamiji by Nikhilanandaji..... Actually GJ is not too far off this time....the biography says Monday January 12, 1863...at 6:49 AM a few minutes after sunrise....in Calcutta. GJ says that his time was 6:33AM, and the longitude and latitude are differently given...when i calculated them thru GJ instead of just looking...it gave me 88E22 and 22N32 Nonetheless, the chart works out pretty closely to what the other data give.... i haven't tried the comparison between them yet except thru the GJ comparison thing....hadn't thought to check the accuracy then tho...so it would probly be wrong...as Sri Ramakrsna's Lagna had moved.... good luck Mani. In the Divine Mother's Love, and in Her Service salutations to Thee as ever, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!

The repetition of kendras is a factor where I dont worry about exact degrees, but do take Ascendent and MC as exact points too. I would have expected a lot of contact points between the charts of Swamis Ramakrishna and Vivekananda, but the best contacts I find are neptune/venus and neptune/mercury conjunctions, plus a broader saturn/venus opposition. Swami R-P´s DOB is a bit doubtful. The time given is 12 minutes BEFORE sunrise. Hindu charts begin the day at sunrise and always give the time AFTER. Between midnight and sunrise the date is the previous one, so that the calendar date could be 19th and not 18th! The time zone is also a bit uncertain. GMT plus 5h 30m did not apply, 5h 53 m is artificial. I think 6h00m would be more correct. Using this differential the TOB would be 6:30 am on the 19th. (Sunrise was at about 6:42) This puts the moon in Pisces, with Vivekananda´s moon in Virgo. Seems to fit better, even if 8 degrees off absolute opposition. The odd part is this: the correspondences between Vivekananda/Yogananda and Ramakrishna/Yogananda are stronger, although they did not have any personal contacts! Actually the Ramakrishna Math people are not very friendly towards Yogananda and his society, consider them as rivals(!!!,), regard Swami Yukteswar etc. as minor and unimportant compared with their Ramakrishna. Do you have details for Ramana Maharishi, Sivananda and Aurobindo? Also Sai Baba of Shirdi? BTW, many may wonder that I write the names of the saints etc. without the Sri or "ji" added. This is not any disrespect, but is not "native" to me. I come from the south of India, where these "sanskrit/hindi" appellations are not used. we pluralize the name with an "r" at the end: Krishnar, Vivekanandar etc. which of course sounds strange in English and reminds me of the British pronunciations like Indiar, Australiar!
