Some Thoughts on The Outer Planets...

All,

Saw this thread having to do with the Outers; since I

am both, a Western and Vedic Astrologer, this is what

I have to say about it:

I have found that the Outer Planets do not have the

same effects in Vedic Astrology that they do in

Western Astrology; conversely, timing techniques used

in Vedic Astrology do mnot translate well into Western

Astrology. I use both systems simultaneuously, but I

don't mix the two. I use them side-by-side, the gauge

the effects of the planets, in their many ways, upon

the individual and the world. Note my recent articles,

especially my most recent, on George W. Bush; it is a

good example of how I use both systems, and how both

CAN and SHOULd co-exist.

Going over the Western side for a moment, it all makes

sense; Pluto is in Sag right now, and has been since

1995; in that time, Vedic Astrology has really blown

up, all over the world, and especially here in the

USA. It was during this time, if I am not mistaken,

that Dasji really strated to get off the ground with

his software, that really has revolutionized things on

the Vedic front.

Pluto in Sag symbolizes the Information Superhighway;

more people, from more countries, are connected in

ways never before imagined. The last time that Pluto

was in Sag, was during the The Enlightenment, and back

then, a grand flowering of knowledge, from other

societies and races coalesced in France and greater

Europe. It was a grand time for Astrology, in

partiular.

Now, eith Pluto in Sag, more Races and cultures and

philosophies, and yes, even Astrologies, will become

closer than ever; they are not enemies, but rather,

travellers on the same path to Enlightenment. Western

Astrology has its place, as does Vedic Astrology. Take

it, please, from someone knows both quite well.

Outer Planet transits, for example, used within the

Western horoscope, can be of a great help to the Vedic

Astrologer - like for example, Rob Koch's Pluto

transit of his Moon. This is a once in a lifetime

event; and it could be used along with the info

gleaned from his Vedic chart, to gain additionally

insight into what was going on in his life at that

time. The same can be done in the reverse, with vedic

Astrology.

Just look at one of the most basic, but most powerful

techniques in Western Astrology, the Saturn Return;

this is when Saturn, by ttransit, returns to its natal

position in the horoscope, every 28-30 years; the

first such return will occur when someone is between

28 and 30, and the second one wil occur when they are

between 58 and 60. This is a time of conspicuous

career assessment, both times; Level changes in a

dramatic sort of way; Life is re-assessed; things have

to change, either because it is time to crank it up a

notch, after having done well, or, because what one

was doing simply isn;t working. The Vedic Astrologer

can get a whole lot out of this simple technique, and

add hat to his already existing info-base of Vedic

Astrological knowledge.

What about the Western Astrologer? Well, we here on

the Vedic side know well, about the Sade Sati, yet

many Western Astrologers don't. What if they just took

that simple technique - what if, alopng with their

other notes - had that Vedic chart in front of them,

and had the one method, Sade Sati, at their disposal?

How could that additional piece of info, helpo them to

help others? What could they miss, if the DIDN'T use

that?

The same could be said for the Vedic Astrologers, who

"sleep" on WA.

We are now in the Age of Information, and we cannot

afford to miss out on something valuable simply

because we insist on the primacy of ancient info, or

because we may be close-minded. As the world gets

smaller and smaller, these great systems, will get

closer and closer. It's already begun, with people

like me, who actively uses both in my practice and

teaching. It is on ly a matter of what, a few years,

before more and more Astrologers, world-wide, begin to

do same.

I entreat my Vedic colleagues, Dasji and Rob and

others alike, to come on in, and learn about the how

the Westerners saw the skies; don't be afraid to

incorporate some of their views; you do not hav e to

abandon any of what you have - in fact, all of this

only makes you that much more equipped to aid others.

In the weeks to come, I will write more extensively

about this.

Salaam,

Mu
