Dear chris, I have never played around with vertex etc. but what you say intrigues me a bit: The vertex is on the west and usually somewhere OPPOSITE the ascendant. Its opposite point Anti-vertex will be near the ascendant, as also the East Point. To "equate" vertex with ascendant means actually taking the 7th as first. ... Any philosophy behind this? Two sensitive points I have noticed are the mid-points Sun/Moon; Moon/asc; also sun/asc to a lesser degree. regards Mani

Nah, I was just blathering on. I wasn't distinguishing between the vertex as an asc or a dsc. I really know about it as much as you do, probably less. My sense is to treat the vertex-east point as a second Asc *axis* and look for close contacts, either natally or through progressions, transits, etc. without regard for 1st house or 7th. > >Two sensitive points I have noticed are the mid-points Sun/Moon; Moon/asc; also >sun/asc to a lesser degree. I would agree on the Sun/Moon and add Asc/Mc. But I don't use them much. Really there are so many potentially important points, one has to know when to stop and get done to work with what one has.
