Guest guest
Om Namo Narayanaya Dear Mani, Namaste. I meditated on your question and came to the following answer: All the classics mention 10 grahas, thus: The 2 luminaries, the 5 planets, the nodes.. And the Lagna. The Lagna is determined from the time the ecliptic messured in time, crosses the Sun, to thus generate sunrise. This begins every 60 ghatis, which is 24 hours, thus one ghati messuring 24 minutes in time. So how about the rest of the houses? Well on the north(or is it south) pole, there are times of year where the sun never sets.. how does one determine the lagna then? Let alone the midhaven? Also in the northen regions the sun sometimes never rises?! But we're basing all these extra calculations, on the time the sun begins to shine on our dear faces, and the time when it stops doing so. We don't base the other grahas calculations on this. Many Astrologers opine the belief that the stars show our destiny because they excert rays on us. However if mars is behind us how can he shine on us, and influence us during certain parts of day? So try to consider Narayana as one large synchronous wheel, that acts in a sequence to human life, not as a ray of beams. The lagna is calculated the same, as any other Grahas that need calculating, and is merely considered one among many grahas. The rest is merely a position in space, and we can thus derive the seperate houses form the position of the lagna. What do you think? Best wishes, Visti. Dear Visti, I certainly agree with your views, but I was asking for practical astronomical info to see how one could perhaps solve the problem. So I repeat my question: Can you somehow explain to us what happens to the sun there? Take the three days 21 March, 21 June and 22 September. You are standing looking south - for my sake theoretically for many hours!! where does the sun rise? To your left or at your back? What happens then till it "sets", how does it move for you? Remember this: YOU HAVE TO FACE SOUTH TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER THAT I CAN UNDERSTAND! For my latitude I´d say: Summer or winter the sun rises somewhere to my left - it appears above the horizon. Then it travels towards my right, whereby its altitude above the horizon increases. at about 12 noon it is exactly south- in front of my nose, and highest. Then it goes further towards my right, losing in altitude, till it disappears below the horizon far to my right. In summer the max altitude is higher. Also the rising and setting points are not exactly to my left or right, but in both cases left or right but also more behind. In winter the opposite, more in front, the max altitude is less. I´d be grateful if you can give me a similar answer as to what you experince. I know that you cannot do so for mid-winter! But 21 June, 21 March and 22 September are days when you can plot the sun´s movements. Please think over it! It is too expensive for me to travel to north Norway to find out for myself! This is not Vedic info I am seeking but actual visible facts.... for vedic purposes, if possible! An attempt to see if one can pinpoint lagna for extreme latitudes. Unfortunately I am an engineer: I like to see that the tools are in good shape ...... As to how you interpret charts: I hope you are good at it, wish you success, but I´m still amazed that you can do so at all, if lagna is an enigma! I guess you are very very intuitive! Can I have your DOB? regards Mani Ps. Where do you live?
