Dear Mr.Das,

At the outset I wish God bless their souls who died in

this massive earthquake and give courage to the

families who suffered. All this has shaken my faith in

Astrology /Palmistry!

If thousands died in the recent earthquake, why did'nt

any of the so called Astrology 'Pandits' could predict

it ???

And do you think that all these people who died would

have had a shorter 'lifeline' on their hands ??

Can you explain this to me !!!

With Warnm Regards

Adi

Hello

I know most of the famous astrology pundits worldwide, and I know for

certain that they are not good enough to do this, nor do they have the

data required to predict such an event.

If the world's intelligent people put together awesome, large, powerful

computer systems and databases, and heavily watched events along with

astrological data, then perhaps such things could be predicted. But even

then, there may be much we don't know, which has not been revealed to us.

I am one of the most advanced programmers of astrological databases, and

I have to work alone due to small sales volume, lack of interest, in

this subject. It's still a small niche market patronized only by a few

worldwide. So "knowledge" as far as I'm concerned is not of interest to

very many people.

As for palmistry, I do not know that much about it. As for shorter

lifelines, of course I doubt they all had shorter lifelines, but in

fact, they probably did all share something in their astrological charts

and on their palms. I would imagine it is so, but it may not be

something we are all aware of. Indeed, they all died together, and so

indeed, they are karmicly linked, but we may not know how to spot that

but as nature is one, and we are in it, so we are one with it too, and

so we can be read, if we have the eyes.

Exactly how far we can see the truth is limited. We are limited in our

perceptions. This brings us around to wondering what is the purpose of

life. Would the purpose of life be spoiled if we knew too much?

In Bhagavat Purana and later Vaisnava works there is talk of "Yoga

Maya", which means that Maya that operates even on the fully enlightened

in the eternal world. It seems there must always be maya, or illusion,

in order for their to be "play". In this world, think of it, if everyone

knew everything, then everything would change so much. The world goes on

as it does largely due to the presence of ignorance.

Think of smoking for example, while the cigarette is enjoyed, the person

cannot think of the damage it is doing. Think of "bad relationships".

While getting into them, the person cannot think of the consequences

which will come for sure. At that time, the lure of sex, or whatever, is

too compelling. So ignorance is very much required for things to proceed

as they do in this world currently.

If everyone was highly aware, of things such as Jyotish, it would

greatly change the world, tremendously so. People would be able to read

others always. It would be a very different world. Surrender and peace,

sattva guna, would be very prevalent. There would be no passion, as

there would be no illusion of "good outcome" from it. People with humble

karma would expect little, and be humble. There are so few humble

people, but so many who should be, and who are not currently, due to ego

which is unfounded, and which is destined to frustration.

It is rather pointless to engage in these "what ifs". Rather, in the

moment, right now, we are all challenged to attain perfection.

Perfection is at this very moment, in seeing the truth of ourselves as

seer without control over the process of seeing or the seen. We can

hope, and watch nature (God) respond.

Death and destruction are constants. The Bhagavat Purana twelfth canto

points out the different types of destruction, and indeed one of them is

the one which is ever present as the continuing destruction that is

always going on on all levels in time, within all constructs, including

our bodies and minds. So destruction is constant, but only we think it

is not. Change, destruction, creation, are constants, and therefore

attachment, is futile, whereas detached service, is yoga.

Lamentation over death is something the living-after do. The dead do not

lament so much. They have gone on, and are fully in the hands of

Divinity, whatever that means, we have no clue, no control, and only

thought, hope, fear, etc. All problems are with the living, who loathe

the control and seemingly dire nature of nature. But nature is perfect

and impersonal to one and all. We are at a difference with it's will

internally, and this difference gives rise to all our mental struggles,

and there is no other source of our pain and woes.

The other day I visited my dentist. In the next booth was a woman

receiving a root canal operation, and she denied the use of pain killer.

She said she just "goes to another place" and doesn't identify with the

(intense) pain of the root canal process. Quite amazing. Others, would

be overwhelmed without pain killer. So consciousness is really something!

Death comes suddenly usually. The people killed in that quake had but a

moment of awareness of something going wrong, then they were dead. Their

consciousness's then went into some type of dream state, and onwards to

other places.

Nobody alive can really remember dieing ever. Everyone walking around

pretty much only remembers being alive, yet death is more constant and

guaranteed than life. So see how wonderfully nature is merciful. We are

provided with bodies that teach us so much in the course of life, and

the "changing" of bodies is nicely done such there is little actual pain

overall, given what their could be. The presence of delusion, shock,

suddeness of death, and so on, protect the consciousness from this

terribly fearful event.

Krishna says "From me comes forgetfulness". So forgetfulness is part of

God's gifts to us. We do not remember the pain.

When these lives are over, they are like dreams, gone, nearly forgetton,

vague memories. They are temporary, and based in a highly mutable

energy, which never promised anything permanent. We are passing through

only, ever, always, and nothing more. We can offer services to

posterity, but nothing more. We learn, and become collectively and

individually wiser. That is most likely the purpose for life, and the

process of the flesh-related pains we must endure, just have to be

tolerated as Krishna says in Gita. Titiksasva. Toleration.

Jyotish works, and from what I hear, so does palmistry. But I do not

expect great things from us. I know they work on persons to a very

amazing degree. This I know for sure. But being able to predict exact

events either personal or communal/mundane is very difficult.

It is also difficult to capture the truth of our lives in our minds, and

hold onto it, and get happiness. We are accustomed to happiness through

achieving fruits/events/outcomes in life, and that is a process or way

of thinking that will always be frustrating. Yet the alternative,

enlightenment, is difficult. There is no way around being under one of

these ways of thinking.

So on we go with our respective struggles.

Hari Om, Best wishes to you, and everyone,

your brother,

Raghu Goravani

Dear Friends,

Shri K.N. Rao, an esteemed and renowned astrologer had indeed predicted

about the impending disaster in respect of the earth quakes and draughts in

his predictions published in a News Magazine called "Week" in India, much in

advance. The local press is carrying his interviews now taking note of the

advance predictions made by him. Irony is that the animals, pet or

otherwise, can find out about earth-quakes, but the seismologists cant.

There was an interesting article in a vernacular press in India stating that

the pet dogs started barking and horses and cows started behaving

irrationally before the disastor struck at 8.46 a.m. IST on 26-1-2001 when

India was getting ready to celebrate their 52nd Republic Day.

Mars in Libra (a sign owned by Lagna Lord of India's ascendant) seem to do

damage when it aspects Jupiter and Saturn in Taurus and Sun and Moon

together on the day further added to damage. Kindly note the close degrees

of planets on that particular day.

with regards,

Manoj
