Guest guest
Hi Wendy, Of course, I understand you don't support generalization, and weren't saying that Saturn in 2nd always causes vegetarianism. I was just having fun ;-) I also consider Rahu and Ketu's effect on the 2nd to give consumption of Tamasic (evil;-) foods. I do this because Parasara classifies the guna of Mars and Saturn to be Tamasic. Due to the co-ownership of Scorpio by Ketu and Aquarius by Rahu, they also give effects of Mars and Saturn and are Tamasic in nature. In ayurveda meat is considered Tamasic, and therefore the influence of these planets on the 2nd can cause meat consumption. The guna of the individual, which is shown by the influence of planets on the lagna has the most powerful sway, which can override the bad effects relating to personal decisions, such as eating, ascribed to the various bhavas. Sattva guna: Sun, Moon, Jupiter Rajas: Mercury, Venus Tamas: Mars, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu As you say Saturn rules the dead, and therfore rules petrified, dead, unclean, and possessed food. Warm regards, Alex J PS. We will have to leave the careful choosing of our words to those with only benefic influence of the 2nd ;-) gjlist, "Wendy Vasicek" <wenvas@o...> wrote: > Hi Alex, > > We're certainly in agreement here Alex...no doubt a malefic Saturn in or > aspecting 2nd house will be harmful to the significations of that house, and > I agree with what you say regarding dead food, processed food and meats > etc...however I did emphasize that Ghandi had YOGAKARAKA Saturn in 2nd (a > yogakaraka planet has the power to do good), and in my case I also > emphasised the fact that 2nd lord Saturn's dispositor had gone to 9th house. > > I wasn't saying that Saturn in 2nd house was ALWAYS beneficial...sorry to > have given that impression Alex...sometimes we just don't choose our words > as carefully as we should :-) > > Best Regards > Wendy > > Alex wrote > ========== > Hello Wendy, > > Thanks for the response! I would have thought that the impulsive and aggressive nature of Mars would make it rajas! To put mars and saturn in the same group seems odd to me. I have not studied ayurveda .... regards Mani
Guest guest
Mani, David Frawley in "Astrology of the Seers" has the guna of Saturn, Mars, Rahu, and Ketu as tamasic. He does go on to say that Mars and Ketu have some rajas as they give energy and power of will. Namaste, Jeff
Guest guest
Hello Mani, Mars has agni tattwa which is similar to rajasic in nature in the sense that they both represent action and energy. Agni is fire/energy, which is the element of both Mars and Sun. But for Guna Mars is Tamasic and Sun is Sattvic. BPHS chapter 2 20. Primordial compounds: The Panchabhutas, space, air, fire, water, and earth, are respectively governed by Guru, Shani, Mangal, Shukr, and Buddh. 22. Sattvic grahas are the luminaries and Guru; Shukr and Buddh are Rajasik; while Mangal and Shani are Tamasic grahas.
