Guest guest
Dear Natabara, I forgot to ask you how you arrive at the conclusion that this GP starts a new Golden Age - I mean this particular full moon. I have the following doubts: 1. The yuga cycles are described as ascending and descending. This could mean that they repeat in the same order, but logic says NO! They should repeat in the reverse order. How can an abrupt change from decadent Kali to noble Kripa occur overnight without a deluge? You get to the bottom of the valley in Kali and start ascending on the other side. History shows this too: great civilizations degrade and die out, new ones are built up gradually. So I would expect the cycles to be "descending Kali" to be followed by "ascending Kali" dwapara etc till Kripa, when everything is more or less okay. This Will be followed by change, for the system is dynamic and always in flux. But any change from perfection means imperfection: in other words after "ascending Kripa" things will gradually deteriorate, "descending Kripa" will start and end with "descending Kali". This allows of gradual transformation at both ends. So I expect that the next period will be an improving Kali, not a Kripa! 2. As to the date, I am sceptical about Indian dating. The accurate observations were broken after the moslem conquest of India and we now rely on uncertain sources. The siddhanthas like surya siddhantha, while remarkably accurate, are still fukll of discrepacies, which count. True Hindu astronomy stopped with the destruction of the great universities at Nalanda, Taxila and Ujjain. Varahamihira did not live around 1000 AD as western historians say, but around 400 BC! The discrepancies in the siddhanthas - considered by westerners to have been written about a 1000 years ago - could be because of poor astronomical knowledge. But more likely, they are only copies of texts compiled many thousands of years before that! The nadis also show similar discrepancies in giving positions, esp. for saturn and venus. I think that they were written very far back and that these planets have changed in orbit and/or rate after that. In contrast the Maya calendar shows much greater accuracy. Since their calendar ends with the year 2012 AD, I would expect the New Kali to start in that year. Any comments from a Mexican who finally answered my question re. how America got its name? regards Mani
