Guest guest
Namaste Alex, I have had the luxury of interacting with and observing people in mental distress in a controlled environment. I have a fairly loose rule of thumb when diagnosing. I try to maintain reserve on labels as such, and please don't think me disrespectful; but I use the shorthand Mad, Bad and Sad,(and their many combinations and shades), to understand their motivation. I define a psychotic state as one that is significantly at odds with the reality of the majority, which could result in harm to self and/or others. Psychotic episodes may be acute or chronic. Twin2 chooses to absolve responsibility for his behaviour by deliberately and excessively imbibing in stimulants (drugs and alcohol) which will induce acute psychotic episodes. The ego defiantly opposes insight and clings fast to exerting domination and control. Bad, not Mad. I know this sounds trite and simplistic, because it is complex, with the greater majority unchartered. As to possession, I don't know how to identify it in a chart. I would like to learn more about it. Best Wishes, Ann.
Guest guest
Namaste Ann, Twin2 was violent and psychotic before he started taking drugs. The drug taking began months later. It is his natural tendency, which can be seen in his rasi and navamsa ascendant. But I wholeheartedly agree that taking drugs of any kind, including anti-depressant medication weakens the mind. As regards possession my view is old fashioned in this. Any serious form of mental problems indicate possession. This can be seen palpably by people who practice Tratak and meditation if they have combinations supporting subtle percpetion in their chart. As regards combinations, the moon in the ascendant with a node causes possession. A conjuction of malefics in the ascendant or trines. All malefics represent spirits, but in particular Rahu and Ketu. If Rahu or Ketu in conjunction with a malefic planet and aspected by another malefic planet occupy the 7th bhava, the ailment will be produced by demoniac possession. Satyajatakam states that Ketu is responsible for possession by demons and spirits, and Rahu for trouble through departed souls, goblins and devils. Parasara states: There will be the creation of disturbances at home and in the agricultural activities by evil spirits... if the Moon is bereft of strength in the 6th, in the 8th, or the 12th from the lord of the Dasha (Rahu). the Moon-Mars: ...creation of turbulence by friends and evil spirits. the Moon-Rahu: Danger from snakes, creation of turbulance by evil spirits, weakness of eye sight, confusion of mind. Saturn-Ketu: Death like distress, creation of turbulence by evil spirits, insult from a woman other than one's wife. Jaimini says: If the twelfth from the Karakamsa is owned by a malefic and if Saturn is there, one is devoted to evil spirits. If Venus is in such a malefic-owned twelfth house, one is devoted to evil spirits. Jataka Parijata: Mercury, when malefic, works much misery ... through the instrumentality of spirits... Phala Deepika Ketu in the 5th house at a birth... he is haunted by evil spirits; he is evil minded wicked and sinful. The diseases and discomforts caused by Mars are ... fear from evil spirits, Gandharvas and frightful demons and diseases affecting the upper extremities... Mercury is the Karaka of mental weakness... troubles due to violence and imprisonments and harm from evil demons moving in the abodes of Gandharvas, and in fiery pits (the dwellings of these evil spirits) or (Gandharvas, the Earth, mansions and horses etc. as well as evil spirits). If Saturn and Rahu be in 7th house, the wife would die of diseases caused by water or worms or by being injured through animals, female imps or evil spirits.
