Dear Visti and Raghu, Please help to understand the words "Bhava lagna in lagna". Is the bhava chart (Sripathi etc,) being referred to? In that case the cusp of the 1st house is the ascendant and can only be in the same kundali lagna sign. So what is meant? What is the "candra lagna" in GJ? Using the South indian style I see that the main chart is rotated to put the moon in the Aries position. Does this mean that the moon´s sign is always equated to Aries? What is the philosophy and how does one interpret?....... Or what else? regards Mani gjlist- Your use of is subject to

I am a beginner in jyothish, have neither hopes nor wishes to ever become an expert! Dasji advised ud beginners NOT to start with BPHS and I have not acquired it - also for financial reasons. Now I hear one can download it, but I have the address hidden away, cannot find it quick. That is why I asked you for help, but if it is too much bother explaining, forget it! After 67 years of being in ignorance, I guess I´ll manage in the limited future too! Since I am not an astrological consultant, it won´t hurt anybody at all if I know too little. no danger of my predicting BS to any poor soul! What I do miss from you is the info. as to how the sun rises and sets in your latitudes over the year! It is so difficult to envisage if one lives outside the polar circle. I asked once for a desription of the "day" in the extreme north, in terms of local perceptions, on the solsticial and eqinoctial dates, seen from the perspective of a person looking towards the south. I repeat my request. regards, dear friend Mani
Guest guest
Dear Visti, Mani et. al., I think the confusion is, and I asked this question last week but it went unanswered, that different astrologers use the term "Bhava Chakra" to mean different things. Our beloved Visti is using it to mean the Bhava Lagna Chakra and he is using the special ascendent the bhava lagna, where he typed out how to calculated it and is using it to interpret the astral body. However, other astrologers, BV Raman and others are using the Bhava Chakra to mean the house system that is used for the jamna kundalini. Most of us here use the whole house sysyem, where the whole sign that contains the ascendent degree is used as the house division from 0-30'. Others use 15' on either side of the ascendent degree as the bhava and may span two signs. Hence the difference between rasi chart and bhava chart. Das's GJ program has button on every chart to use either rasi or bhava and it's isn't for the bhava lagna. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd like to clear up the confusion on this issue. Highest Regards, Karen

Atleast have it so one can master the first chapters, they are easy enough, and are the basis of whatever predictions are being made here. Please forgive me for this beginner's question. What does the acronym "BPHS" stand for? Thank you, Scott

Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra. It is one of the ancient jyotish classic written by Parasara, the father of jyotish.
