Guest guest
Namaste. Ok who's going to pull out a classic? Let me give it a go. Acording to Santhanams translation of BPHS: "If theres a planet other than Sun, in the 2nd from the Moon Sunapha Yoga, in the 12th Anapha Yoga, in both Duradhara Yoga is caused." Acording to Sareens translation of Phala Deepika(by Mantreswara): "If Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus *and* Saturn are posited in 2nd, 12th or both the houses reckoned from Moon then the three Yogas respectively formed are called Sunapha, Anapha and Durudhara. When neither of the 3 yogas defined above are formed there is Kemadruma Yoga." Parasara Agrees with the above, only that Sareen's *and* should be changed to *or*.. I think Mantreswara will appreciate a little editing here. To be sure I checked Brihat Jataka and Varahamihira seems to agree with Parasara, and Mantreswara. (Sunapha, Anapha, Durudhara and Kemadruma Yogas are reckoned from Moon significator=happiness) Now it seems that they treat Sakata Yoga in a seperate context: If Moon is in Kendra from Jupiter Kesari Yoga is produced. If Moon is in 6th, 8th or 12th from Jupiter Sakata Yoga is produced. (reckoned from Jupiter, significator=fortune) The key to this is that the yogas effects are different and both work in the same context. No wonder we're in Kali Yuga since the only reasoning people have come with is "auspicous and in-auspicous". Not everyone with Sunapha Yoga becomes a king.. why? Not everyone with a Kesari Yoga becomes famous.. why? Because of the Yogas strength. But yet the yogas function, just not with the same strength. This is the core to this understanding. Best wishes, Visti.
