Guest guest
Hello All, I am a new member to this list. Richard Houck introduced me to this list before his passing and now I am finally here. As someone who has dabbled in western astrology for many years, learning it's strengths and many shortcomings...I am very interested in learning much more about REAL astrology, as Richard always put it. I was wondering two things, for now 1. Where is the best place to study and learn? 2. Where is the best place to receive a consultation? Any help is greatly appreciated ! Thanks, Scott
Guest guest
Welcome Scott! There are many good teachers around. You can check with the American Council of Vedic Astrologers (ACVA) for teachers in your area, or teachers who specialize in particular types of vedic astrology. There are three conferences coming up in the United States. The ACVA is doing a conference in Phoenix in June. Their big International Symposium with 38 speakers from all over the world, will be in Sedona in November. Information on vedic astrologers, vedic astrologer conferences, books and tapes can be found at www.Vedic Astrology.org. The third conference is in Dallas in September, called "Eastern Astrology for Western Minds." Information is at www.galacticcenter.org. I really enjoy the conferences. You get exposed to many different teachers in a short amount of time. You meet and network with other astrologers. It is thrilling to be in a room with 40 other vedic astrologers! If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me directly. -Maire - "Scott MacDonald" <scottmd1 <gjlist> Wednesday, April 11, 2001 9:05 AM [gjlist] Two simple questions > Hello All, > > I am a new member to this list. Guest guest
Scott: The ACVA does seem to be the Microsoft of vedic astrology in North America, although there are several other places you can go, such as the Florida Vedic people (can't remember the exact name, but type in those two names into the search engine and you should find it.) One caution about ACVA tutors: they are expensive, as much as $100 an hour. Too rich for my blood. For my own interest, actually, I wonder if anyone is aware of tutors who would offer their services at a cheaper rate. Also, it is possible to find a free teacher through the Jagannath organization (Sanjay Rath et al). I believe Robert Koch is a tutor with them. They only take very few students, however, and scrutinize your chart for astrological promise and compatibility with the tutor before accepting you. I would be interested in what you find, as I am always on the lookout for good teachers and good astrologers -- especially since Rick's wisdom is no longer available to us.
