Hi Wendy:

Thanks for answering my question but can you please explain why the

Stepfather is seen from the 12th. I am a little confused here.

Hello Shamim,

The answer to your question is: Stepfather is seen from the 12th.

(Stepmother from the 6th)

Hello Shamim,

There are some who take the 9th house to indicate father however I, along

with others (such as the great L.R. Chawdhri, etc), understand the 9th in

context of Guru. 10th as fathers house as it is 7th from mothers house

(mothers husband).

3rd from 4th is sister of mother (stepmother) and 3rd from 10th is brother

of father (stepfather). This is the premise of 6 and 12 governing

step-parents.

Regards

Wendy

Dear Wendy,

As pure amateur, I ask you:

Are you referring to "uncles" and "aunts" or "step-fathers" and "step-mothers"?

Step-parents are those who marry the mother or father after the true father or

mother is dead or divorced. They cannot be given the same status as siblings.

Even there, if I understand the principles at all, the younger sister of mother

will be 3rd from 4th, but older sister or brother must be 11th from 4th.

Reverting to step-parents by re-marriage, they only take on the roles of the

demised or departed real parents. So the same houses as for normal parents will

still apply, but other factors must show a duality - or multiplicity,

considering people who marry many times! -, and the dasas the time(s) of change.

snowhite or Cinderella must have had charts with some very benefic and some very

malefic aspects to the 4th house: indicating loving mothers and later on nasty

mothers!

regards

Mani

Dear Mani,

You're asking me to explain the logics of how the ancient rishis determined

the affairs of the Bhavas...somewhat beyond my scope I'm afraid, but I'll

tell you how I understand it to be.....

In times gone by if a mother died leaving her poor children without maternal

care, the role of mother was (traditionally) passed on to the mothers

sister...likewise, the same thing if father passed away prematurely.

This is taught in authoritive books, and so it would seem that

step-fathers/mothers, whether through re-marriage or whatever, are seen from

the same houses as Aunts and Uncles.

I cannot tell you why the rishis decided on this...I'm not a rishi, so some

things I just have to accept on face value. Others may be able to offer more

information.

I am beginning to dislike the continual reference to my own chart, but when

it's relevant and clearly shows a point....

I was raised by a step-mother, note ascendant lord Saturn in 6th house.

Saturn is generally associated with adoption, and yes! I was adopted.

Regards

Wendy

Dear Wendy,

I agree. But this was a relationship that existed already anyhow. Does it apply

when the step parent is not related at all? I´m just wondering, not opposing

what you say! The matter affects me in no way.

This is not what I meant at all, so we are talking past each other. You are

talking about possibility of having a step-parent. I was talking about the

step-parents themselves.
