Guest guest
Dear Members, For some light-hearted relief and not intended as a slur on anyone, let's summarise the different levels of Astrologers (Jyotishis). STUDENT: Someone who is in the beginning stages of learning. PRACTICING ASTROLOGER: Someone who has learnt enough and (hopefully) has gained a recognisable certificate, enabling him/her to be able to practice. TEACHER: Someone who has practiced sufficiently and gained the necessary amount of knowledge to pass onto others. GURU: Someone who knows it all and no longer needs to practice (as in practicing astrologer). Such elevated people are truly enlightened Jyotishis who's knowledge is beyond question. I (personally) know of no real Gurus alive today, except perhaps for Maharishi...would be interesting to hear if there are any more.... Guest guest
dear wendy I doubt that know no guru will be available , a person who know astrology never advertise and others who have little bit tinkles call them Jyotishi . we must all celeberate that we are very luck to be a part of such interesting and valuable groups where we constantly gain new insight into the astrology . Some one has posted very interesting industry figures for Astrology in astrology I am including that text here : It's a multi-billion dollar industry that amassed most of it's influx with the introduction of the 900#. The average acceptable price to access this service ONE TIME in the year 2000 was $26.33. 42% of the industries enthusiasts utilized a service at least once per week, 17% actually averaged ONCE PER DAY! The Industry? Astrology. In an age where nothing is certain, people are turning to the stars to help them map out their very lives! Now imagine, if you will, that you could offer this market access to this product, and more, 24 hours a day - 7 days a week - for LESS THAN $40.00 PER MONTH! regards Jitendra Sodhi email : astrology > Dear Members, > > For some light-hearted relief and not intended as a slur on anyone, let's > summarise the different levels of Astrologers (Jyotishis). > > STUDENT: Someone who is in the beginning stages of learning. > > PRACTICING ASTROLOGER: Someone who has learnt enough and (hopefully) has > gained a recognisable certificate, enabling him/her to be able to practice. > > TEACHER: Someone who has practiced sufficiently and gained the necessary > amount of knowledge to pass onto others. > > GURU: Someone who knows it all and no longer needs to practice (as in > practicing astrologer). Guest guest
Yes Jitendra, Wendy was perfectly correct when she had voiced her concern about availability of a guru in the present era. Those who love to be called as "gurus" must first rise and attain that status for being called a "guru". Real guru is really difficult to get and in today's age when astrology has become a profitable business with no strings attached, doctors can be punished for wrong treatment, engineers can be held responsible for their misdeeds but astrologers, at present go scot free with anything they do. In U.S.A., I presume, astrologers still work under the pretext of Entertainment, correct me friends, if I am wrong. In India, though, few astrologers have been booked by Police for fleecing and looting public. with regards, Manoj PS : I wanted to avoid offering my views on this, as this could be an issue which could hurt many. So friends, take it in the right spirit. _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
All, I think it is very difficult to categorize. The learning process is a continuum and every one falls somewhere along it. At one end of the continuum is total ignorance; at the other Total Knowledge. Everyone along the continuum is a student. The advancement towards Total Knowledge will be of varying degree for different people. The advanced can guide the ones not so advanced. One will only be able to figure out the stage of development of others at lower level of development. As far as the advanced, one only knows that they are advanced, but will not know the degree of advancement. Only a person with Total Knowledge will be able to say confidently that someone else too is. Till then it will have to be just belief. We all start with a hypothesis till we either prove it right or wrong. As far as practicing astrology goes.. (for money or as a service), we all have to have: - some level of confidence in our knowledge, - humility about the lack of ignorance of things unknown, - prayer for guidance and intuition form the Almighty, - confidence in the guiding hand of the Lord and, - courage to face the consequences of our actions.
