Guest guest
Hi Carol and everyone at the party, Yes, to move GJ from one computer to another, can be accomplished a couple ways, though one will be most common. The common or easiest way is to install on the new computer from the CD. On the old one, export the charts using "Export all..." under the File menu. Then on the new one, use the other command there under File for importing charts. Then your charts will be in the new program. As for codes, yes, the new one will need it's own new code in this scenario. You will like to get that code after installing on the new one, prior to trying to import your charts. The other method is to copy the whole folder onto some backup and then put that on the new computer. In this case though you will have to manually install the fonts, and when you first launch the program, you'll have to show Windows where Omnis is by clicking "Locate" when it asks, and then hiliting (dont open) the GorJyoV2 folder and then clicking OK twice. This sets the registry. This is the complicated method, but it's no big deal to computer pros. You can also just back up your datafile, which is the largest file in your goravani folder, and on Windows is named like "data_med" or "data_lrg" and on Mac it's like "Medium datafile" etc. So if you just back that up, that has all your stuff in it. If you then install on the new computer from CD, then put this old backed up datafile into the new folder, replacing the new datafile it installed, then you'll have a fully operational GJ on the new computer but with your "old" datafile containing all your work, and this installation in this 3rd fashion is already activated, and thus needs no new code, because the datafile retained is carrying still it's old "activated" state. So those are the three ways. The default normal way is Install Activate (get the new code for the new installation on the new computer) Import chart file which you exported from old system That's the easiest to understand and least complex default approach. Thanks for asking, hope this clarifies, Raghu Goravani 2852 Willamette St # 353 Eugene OR USA 97405 or Fax: 541-343-0344 "Goravani Jyotish" Vedic/Hindu Astrology Software
