Guest guest
If any one is interested in reading me scorching an academic who is skoffing at astrology--read on. Curtis http://www.jrnyquist.com/july23/greg_nyquist.htm (article) To which I replied: Mr Nyquist, I initially responded to your astrology article, I am an astrologer myself. I have had a chance to read and think about the reply article. I am rather disappointed. The validity, or invalidity, of astrology was not addressed at all. Instead there was a superfluous, wordy, and irrelevant sidetrack into the inconsistencies of a so-called self-devouring subjective or relativistic theory of truth. There were also a lot of unspecific, vague, and unsubstantiated put-downs (always a coward's tactic) against astrology and/or astrologers. Are they called ad hominem attacks? Because a lot of people misuse it, or have "delusional" attitudes towards it's use, it not at all a justification for condemning astrology. Thy pride hath blinded thee to thine own actions. But, Mr. Nyquist, does astrology work or not? WHERE IS YOUR PROOF? I take it you have no real ready reply with anything like empirical evidence. I think by your weak (if anything) attack against astrology, you actually betray your prejudice against it! Scholasticism is so swelled with its own corruption and pride as to be almost irredeemable. You used a lot of long sounding and academic words, which caused me to think you must have a real point, but after analyzing the whole exposition, you have not fooled me. Perhaps you fool yourself. Astrology deals with subjects that are invisible to mortal eye: fate, destiny, karma, and free will. It also necessarily demands acceptance or faith in another, more spiritual/occult, paradigm. I do not know if you are a spiritual person. If you are not, then I would not expect you to accept this other view of things and your "skepticism" is more understandable. If an aborigine from a thousand years ago where to be transported in time to the present; television, airplanes, automobiles, etc. could only be expressed in terms of magic. The truth is that aborigine above did not have the equipment to see all that comprises the miracle of modern technology. The same goes today for the science of astrology: it works, Greg, but we cannot understand it rationally (or materially, as I call it) as of yet. A new paradigm must be formed. Science has much to expand yet. There are astrologers of a scientific bent who try to form a hypothesis of the mechanism of how astrology works. I think such attempts are really in vain because one is trying to explain the workings of the universe. Only mortal pride causes man to think he can find such answersas he is. Einstein, in pushing the envelope of science came face to face with the "spiritual" or "superstitious", and he admitted it. Many of the works of physicists and cosmologists parallels the works of Eastern and Western mystics. Just look at the book, the Tao of Physics, the Dancing Wu-Li Masters, and many others. My newsletter: Spiritual_Material_Astrology is an attempt at a noble validation of the art and science of astrology. You will find a real attempt at formulating empirical evidence therein. If you really want to get to the bottom of the truth of astrology you might want to to it, or check it out on a regular business. The newsletter attempts to reconcile astrology with events of the world. I am quite the conservative, as you would see. I apologize for getting so upset and harsh here. You can look at my readings for today, Friday the 27th, and the next few days (and the last week, for that matter) at Spiritual_Material_Astrology/message/21 Respectfully, Curtis Burns
