Labor Day Weekend Retreat:

Success in Life and Self-Realization in Vedic Astrology

August 31 - September 3, 2001

 

Gain insight into the direction and purpose of your personal life by

understanding your past tendencies, your present potentials, your strengths

and weaknesses as revealed in your birth chart. Discussions on Karma, Self

Effort and Destiny, Right Living, Right Relationships, Right Work and

Career, Finances, Spiritual Paths, Remedial Measures.

 

 

 

Teachers and Astrologers are:

· Chakrapani Ullal, world renown vedic astrologer from Kerala, India.

In 1979, he was invited by Swami Mukatananda

 

to come to America as an astrological consultant. In 1993, he was awarded

the tittle of Jyotish Kovid by the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences.

 

· Stephen Quong Umananda - Renown and well versed astrologer; He has

as studied and practiced astrology in Asia, America and Europe since 1970.

He has travelled extensively throughout India, Nepal and Sri Lanka,

studying with many of the most accomplished contemporary masters of Vedic

astrology and palmistry.

 

 

 

· Dennis Flaherty - is the NW Regional Vice President of American

Council of Vedic astrologers. He is certified in both Western and Vedic

Astrology, having been certified through Professional Astrologers

Incorporated and having received the Jyotish Kovid and Jyotish Vachaspati

from the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences.

 

 

 

· Ernst Wilhelm has studied astrology since 1992 and has taught since

1996. He has done research work on Capability using the techniques of the

Rishis. He is currently working on a translation of Jaimini Sutra and is

the founder-writer of Astrology Software "Kala".

 

 

 

· Krishnan Namboodiri is a tantric Namboodiri priest from Kerala,

South India, well versed in Hindu Ritual and Hindu Ceremonies. He has

installed the 9 planet temple at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm this

year. Krishnan Namboodiri is also a Vedic astrologer, specialized in Prasna.

 

.. Swami Sitaramananda is a senior disciple of Swami Vishnu-devananda and is

the residing swami and director of the Ashram. She will be conducting the

meditation sessions during the week end.

 

.. Swami Govindananda from Kerala, India is a visiting teacher and senior

disciple of Swami Vishnu-devananda and is the assistant director of the

Sivananda Ashram in Neyyar Dam, South India. He will be leading some of the

satsangs during the week end.

 

.. Excellent Yoga teachers will be conducting Daily Yoga classes.

 

 

The weekend will feature a Nine Planets Homa (traditional Fire Ceremony)

with Krishnan Namboodiri. Personal consultations and chart readings are

available with all the presenters. This intense retreat offers workshops

for both beginners and advanced students of Vedic Astrology. Please note

that one asterisk (*) after a lecture means it is O.K. for a beginner. Two

asterisks (**) shows a lecture designed for people with a basic

understanding of planets, signs and houses. Three asterisks (***)

indicates a lecture for those who can do basic chart interpretation

understanding aspects and lordships. All classes will be recorded and

available for sale after the conference.

 

In addition to this program, there are the daily Yoga classes open to all

levels 8am-10am and 4pm-6pm, and vegetarian brunch served at 10am and

dinner at 6pm. "Satsang" refers to group silent meditation for 1/2 hour,

and chanting of sanskrit kirtan (spiritual songs and prayers).

This event will be held at the Sivananda Yoga Farm in Grass Valley,

Northern California. The Ashram celebrated its 30 years of service this

year, being founded by H.H.Swami Vishnu-devananda in 1971. It is situated

on secluded 80 acres of rolling hills in the beautiful Sierra Foothills.

You can find exact directions at the web site. You can also fly to

Sacramento Airport (1hour 1/2 away)and take Foothill Shuttle Service to

come to the Ashram or take the Amtrak Bus at Amtrak Train station to Grass

Valley for a free pick up by the Ashram.

 

The ashram is asking for $108 for participation in all workshops in

addition to the nightly rate. It is $45 per night if you stay in your own

tent. It is $55 per night in a dormitory. $60 per night to share a cabin

with just one other person, and $100 per night in a private cabin. This

price includes two vegetarian meals per day, two yoga class each day and

use of the Sauna and beautiful ashram grounds.
