Das G. in Los Angeles Sunday-Ratha Yatra

Hello Everyone,

 

I'm going to the Los Angeles Ratha Yatra Festival put on by the LA

Krishna Temple.

 

Sunday, Aug 5th, starting probably at around 10AM or so. Though I don't

know the official times. I think it starts late morning, and goes until evening.

 

It's at Venice Beach all day Sunday. It's a big event. There will be

lots of booths, activities, the procession of the chariots, which is a

riot size krishna kirtan in front of the carts of Lord Jaganath, Balaram

and Subhadra.

 

There are bands of various types on a few stages, food booths, classes,

all kinds of entertainment, crafts, thousands of people, it's like a

massive Hindu circus. It's probably one of the largest Hinduism related

events in the West each year.

 

I'll make a point of standing to the right of the main stage, next to

it, off to the side, at 3 PM on Sunday if any of you are going and want

to meet up for whatever reason. I have long dark hair, a beard, and

usually earrings and necklaces, so I should be able to be found

thereabouts, around 3 PM. I'd love to meet you there!

 

Those of you in Los Angeles or anywhere in Southern California may want

to try to go. I'm sure you could have a fun day at this event. It takes

place on the entire Venice park area at the beach directly, so you can't

miss it. If you go to the main Venice Beach Park area, you won't miss

it. It's at the end of Venice Blvd where it hits the beach.

 

For those of you who don't know, just going to Venice Beach on a Summer

Sunday in August like this is a human zoo of Los Angeles culture and sub

culture.
