Guest guest
Hello I was called in by the studio that makes Star Trek shows. They wanted to talk to me about correctly including astrology on an episode. We met in a planning room for the show. Lots of objects collector geeks would die for. They wanted the folks on board the ship to ask the computer astrological questions. They wanted it to be actually realistically conceivably possible what was shown, based on the thinking of scientific forward thinking modern astrologers, like myself. That's why they called me. So they asked and we talked. However, when they realized the truth is, that yes it can work, and that Captain whomever could ask "Will the ship be blown up completely today", and that he could ask that anyday and that advanced computer would know, they decided to not include it, because it seemed like it might blow the plot right up front in the show. They felt it was too demeaning to their heros to ask selfish centered questions, like about romance, career, etc. They wanted them to ask forward thinking meaningful questions, filled with concern for all etc. But then they realized the answers were fixed, sweeping, humbling, etc., and it blew away the whole image of the players free will and so forth, so they decided to leave it out. They felt astrology just wasn't attractive to people when they wanted to be entertained, not real astrology anyway. They felt it's too "realistic", kindof like watching the news, and that this didn't fit in well with "entertainment". They wished me well, and I went on my way. My day in spotlights blown by realism. As I rode home on the public transport that day, surrounded by reality, I thought to myself, (which is not altogether rare): I can see the writing on the wall, don't think I'll be having much to do with entertainment biz people at all. -- Das Goravani 2852 Willamette St # 353 Eugene OR USA 97405 or Fax: 541-343-0344 "Goravani Jyotish" Vedic/Hindu Astrology Software
Guest guest
I've always wondered about that; how could a starship in deep space erect horoscopes? They would have no planetary system to use, except if they happened to be stopping over in one. But how then would they know which planet gives what influence? It would have to be some sort of galaxy-wide system, or other. I came to the conclusion that such space-farers would not have any astrology to speak of, and just be kind of "wandering bodies" themselves. It seems the Star Trek people are a materialistic bunch anyway. I used to watch the show when it was first run and when I was a teenager in the 70's. I got into the adventure and space stuff. But now I am far too "jaded" for such things. I did however by accident catch Babylon 5 and I was very impressed and got quite hooked.
