Want to take this chance to say over the weekend I received Ernst Wilhelm's new book, Vault of the Heavens. His first chapter is 'The Planets and Myth' and he goes into this story you mention above with regard to Venus. It's a great resource as he goes into each of the planets and the stories associated with them. The whole book is great - I'm in the last pages now. I would recommend this to all. Exceptional in many ways, particularly for students. He has also included a large chapter on Nakshatras loaded with much information and very clearly explained with regard to how the Nakshatras are used. With thirty chapters, he covers a lot and this book also includes twenty-eight 'Lists and Tables'. Huge thanks to Ernst for writing this book and sharing his knowledge. Kindest regards, Patrice
Guest guest
Dear Patrice Yes Ernst has put some excerpts from his book up on the list and I have been very impressed .I'll pick up a copy when the new age bookshop here gets it in . Jyotish is one of those subjects where one is an eternal student so it is good when writers give their realisations of the subject matter rather than just parrot the classics . Your contribution has hit upon another reason why Venus is exalted In Pisces and I'm sure where not at the end of them yet Nicholas - Patrice Curry GJList Tuesday, December 11, 2001 9:34 AM [GJ] The Planets and Myth - Ernst's Book Dear Nicholas, You wrote: >>>There is a story in the Bhagavata Purana where Sukracarya advised his disciple Bali Maharaja not to offer charity to Lord Vamana who was an incarnation of Visnu .
