Core Yogas Course

There are thousands of yogas in the classical Vedic Astrology texts. Most

of them deal with specific areas of life, like marriage, wealth, etc, and have

no specific names. Then there are those most important yogas that have specific

names, like Lakshmi Yoga, Matsya Yoga, etc. These are the yogas that indicate

the very strength of the horoscope and the native’s capacity for success

and nobility, or for ruin, failure and degradation. These yogas encompass so

much that they can be considered as a very important branch of Vedic Astrology

by themselves; an astrologer knowing only these yogas will rarely go wrong with

making predictions regarding character, success or ruin. While some yogas are

difficult to learn, most of the important named yogas are quite simple to

apply; using them will very much enhance your ability to look deeply into the

horoscope and see the real foundation and potential of the horoscope. In this

course the use and effects of all 214 important named yogas will be taught.

Amongst these named yogas there are 89 yogas that indicate the very

foundational strength of the horoscope; these are not dasa dependent but are

necessary for a proper assessment of the native’s potential for success

and character strengths. The remaining 125 yogas are dasa dependent and

indicate periods of rise, success and virtue, or the periods of ruin and

degradation.

 

Course Length: Five 4-hour sessions held on different weekend days. Each 4-hour

session will consist of two 2-hour classes with a half hour break in between.

 

Price of Course: $150.00, includes course manual of Yogas with commentary. Fees

paid in advance. Classes will be recorded, so if you are unable to attend one

of the classes you will be given a video or audiocassette.

Class 1, Saturday March 2, 12:30 – 5:00 PM

Using Yogas: Proper use of yogas, Rasi Aspects, Qualifying Yogas, the Benefic and Malefic Moon.

 

Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas: The five great types of great people created by the

five starry planets. Synergestic effect of Mahapurusa Yogas and Sankhya Yogas:

 

Nabhasa Yogas: The 32 planetary patterns that typify the native.

 

Class 2, Saturday March 16, 12:30 – 5:00 PM

Solar Yogas: Simple Yogas from the Sun that indicate the active and initiating

planets and the planets that become more capable of giving rise and success.

 

Lunar Yogas: Simple Yogas that indicate the conditioned consciousness of the

native. Kemadruma Yogas- yogas that indicate decay and sloth. Growth of Wealth.

Effects of the Moon’s position relative to the Sun. The Moon above or

Below the Horizon.

 

Lagna Yogas: Yogas bearing on the Lagna.

 

Malika Yogas: All planets in consecutive houses, which empower the horoscope.

 

Miscellaneous Foundation Yogas: Yogas that indicate a powerful foundation for

success and those which indicate inherent weakness.

 

Class 3, Saturday March 30, 12:30 – 5:00 PM

Dispositor Yogas: Yogas involving dispositors that can be used to judge every

house in the horoscope and without which reading the horoscope can be

misleading.

 

Yogas for a Deity's Favor and Virtue: The Yogas named after deities.

 

Class 4, Saturday April 20, 12:30 – 5:00 PM

Yogas of Character, Virtue and Power

 

Miscellaneous Yogas: A few other important yogas that indicate character strengths and success.

 

Class 5, Saturday May 11, 12:30 – 5:00 PM

Ruinous Yogas: Yogas that indicate periods of downfall and ruin, or serious character defects.

 

All classes are suitable for ACVA certification.
