Guest guest
Dear Inder Jit, Please go to Mcafee.com or to symantec.com to see about removing the virus. I do not know why the person from bomship.com (or whtever it is) continues to send us viruses. I delete all message from that email address. It would be good for all listmembers who can, to purchase a separate hard disk drive, install temporarily in your computer and save a copy of your current computer system and files to it, then remove it--just in case this sort of thing happens! After viruses are removed, then the extra drive can be the source for restoring corrupted files back to your computer. Best wishes to you, Carol
Guest guest
Dear Cynthia, The disgruntled sender of the viruses should remove himself from the list. All he needs to do is follow removal instructions at the bottom of GJList email. I guess it makes us become computer pro's in the long run; we learn to protect our computers, and we have more stable systems as a result. Hard way to learn, though. Happy Memorial Day weekend! Guest guest
Dear Carol I was slower to notice the connection. Usually my Norton gets them right away and I don't even see who the sender was. This time it did not catch it. I didn't open the attachment on intuition that something was wrong. I paged back to see any previous messages from this sender and I found one that simply said sos It led me to suspect that this is conscious or malicious and not merely an accident. Plus the wording "A very good tool" made this particularly seductive to astrologers. Any thoughts from others? If I am wrong, I hope the sender responds and sets me right. c - <Carolhook <gjlist> Saturday, May 25, 2002 11:51 AM Re: [GJ] A very good tool VIRUS ATTACHED > Dear Inder Jit, > Please go to Mcafee.com or to symantec.com to see about removing the > virus. Guest guest
Dear Carol, Cynthia and friends, I read on the symantec website that this virus, Klez does a weird thing to disguise the actual sender. If you're computer is infected with the virus it checks your address book and picks a name and puts it on the "from" line and sends it to the others on your address list thus essentially disguising who the actual sender is. If wish there was a way could screen the mails for viruses before distributing. I also read that this virus only affects computers using Microsoft Outlook as its mail client and that there is a patch available from Microsoft to close the security breach that this virus takes advantage of. Best wishes, Karen > Dear Cynthia, > > The disgruntled sender of the viruses should remove himself from the > list.
