Guest guest
The result of Christianity, for me, is purely visual- I see my Godmother, my Mother, my Father, and Uncles and Aunts, all gathered, all Irish mostly, sitting around, and they have nothing to say, they have no fun, some are smoking, they are wearing really silly clothes, like tight inner one's to fake a figure, and so on, and they eat total garbage, they have no respect for anything as living except humans, their breath stank, they had no virtues I could see, they had no special talents, the men were not strong and capable, they were tight, rigid, un-excercised, not at all in shape. They had pathetic wife-wooped looks on their faces all the time. And these are the Christians that raised me. My mother had so many children "for Jesus" and was always unhappy in her life. I am not happy about that at all. One reason I joined the HK's was the intensity. At least they were awake. Please do not reveal this to my family at all, please! Guess what: When I was a teenager, my brothers and I, we used to skip Church, and go smoke pot in the graveyard near the Church instead. Now I realize, we were reincarnated Saivaites. Sitting in the graveyard smoking pot, was our version of going to Church. Well that's exactly what a whole lot of Saivaites do in India. Sit around in dead people's ashes, naked, smoking this and that, and not doing much else. When I think of all the men and boys in old times, staying totally healthy doing hard work and play, and games, and sporting practices like bows, swords, wrestling, riding horses, that is so much more healthy than the Nintendo and AOL lifestyle. (I don't mean the internet, I mean that corny brainless AOL culture they push on us constantly so that a few ugly white guys can be rich) Ditto for the woman, with other stuff. We need to go back some. We just do. We need what we used to do... song and dance, drama, merriment, and you don't have to always be drunk to have fun. What is this? Where are the games where the men pair off, and the woman tease them to make them work harder. Doesn't that sound like more fun than dancing to rap music that's way too loud at a bar where you cannot talk even if you want to, where everyone is drinking poison, and nobody gets what they came for? I think so. I used to love the Mangal Arotik during my brahmacari days. If I got to lead it, I was in heaven. This is singing to the deities in Berkeley, my favorite, Gaura Nitai, at 4:15 AM... Samsara dava nala lidha loka... This song we sang, glorifying the teacher for enlightening the student. Typical first song at any monastery, where disciplic succession, especially in oral traditions, is taken very seriously. That can now be dropped some, as we're global, and not oral, but it was great training, and should be documented so that in the future it can be understood why there was such emphasis on listening to the Guru carefully. I could go on forever. Well, I'd like to also, I admit. But other things call too. I love you all, peace, hope you're bearing these transits bravely like I'm not... argh.... much love, Das
