Guest guest
What are the Sanskrit names for: friend: (as in Grahas that are friends) enemy: ecliptic: longitude: asteroid (or comet): gender: (of a Graha) I believe ecliptic lattitude is "Shara" and equatorial declination is kranti. I think the correct term for ecliptic is Kranti Vritta. Is this correct? Also, even though they aren't used in Jyotish what are the Sanskrit (or Hindi, in this case) names for Uranus, Neptune Pluto and Chiron. Thanks! Guest guest
Hans, thanks for your reply! It was very helpful. I'm still having a little trouble finding the correct Sanksrit term for "equatorial lattitude". Any further help is appreciated. As I'm studying, here's what I've found. Although Kranti is commonly used interchanably with declination, from reading the Surya Siddhanta, it seems Kranti is calculated in a different way and actually represents the difference in latitude between the ecliptic and celestial equator at the planet's longitude. That's why I'm looking specifically for a preferrable Sanskrit term for "equatorial lattitude". Thanks for any help! Yes that's as I see it. I have KRANTHI for declination (Vedic Astrology!) SHARA and VIKSHEPA for celestial latitude ---- and AKSHAAMSHA for latitude (geographical, equatorial) hope this helps Hans
