Dear C, thank you for the question.

 

If you read the following carefully, you will see

events predicted thousands of years in advance. These

are major predictions of Avatars and how the Hare

Krishna movement will spread over the world, etc.

Recent predicted events are the appearance of Lord

Buddha and Lord Kalki and the Kali-yuga age, and the

movement spread by Srila Prabhupada.

There are numerous quotes in Srimad Bhagavatam about

the prediction of the age of Kali-yuga, which began

5,000 years ago [and scientist Richard Thompson Phd

computed via computer that all the planets were lined

up in a straight line when Kali-yuga began 5,000 years

ago, its all in his last book] where men/women became

shorter in life and stature, smaller in body size, and

how everything in general became degraded and

atheistic in Kali-yuga. In the prior age, Dvarpa-yuga,

men were more of a giant size, and lived longer, more

intelligent, more theistic. I remember long ago,

hearing or reading some passage in the Bible, talking

about men in the past who were giants and lived a

thousand years, which correlates to the Vedic

statements of how the Dvarpa-yuga men lived 1,000

years and Kali-yuga men are living only 100 years.

The predicted appearance of Lord Buddha, as written in

the Srimad Bhagavatam-

 

>From Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.24, verse and purport by

Srila Prabhupada, we find-

 

Verse- Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, the Lord

will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Anjana, in the

province of Gaya, just for the purpose of deluding

those who are envious of the faithful theist.

 

Purport-

Srimad-Bhagavatam was composed just prior to the

beginning of the age of Kali (about five thousand

years ago), and Lord Buddha appeared about twenty-six

hundred years ago. Therefore in the Srimad-Bhagavatam

Lord Buddha is foretold. Such is the authority of this

clear scripture. There are many such prophecies, and

they are being fulfilled one after another. They will

indicate the positive standing of Srimad-Bhagavatam,

which is without trace of mistake, illusion, cheating

and imperfection, which are the four flaws of all

conditioned souls. The liberated souls are above these

flaws; therefore they can see and foretell things

which are to take place on distant future dates.

 

And from Srila Prabhupada’s Gita class in Montreal,

1968

“Just in the Srimad-Bhagavatam there is a great list

of incarnations, and Buddha, Lord Buddha, is accepted

as one of the incarnations who would appear. It is in

future tense. Kikatesu bhavisyati. Buddho namna

anjana-sutah kikatesu bhavisyati. Now bhavisyati means

"He will appear in future." Because Srimad-Bhagavatam

was compiled by Vyasadeva five thousand years ago, and

Lord Buddha appeared about two-thousand-six-hundred

years ago. Therefore before the appearance of Lord

Buddha the Srimad-Bhagavatam was written. This is

called sastra. Because there is accurate date and

accurate calculation. Everything is there. Buddho

namna anjana-sutah kikatesu bhavisyati. The mother's

name also given there, anjana-suta. And kikatesu means

Gayapradesh. In India there is a province called

Bihar. In that province there is a district Gaya. In

that district Lord Buddha appeared. Lord appeared in

Bihar province. He was ksatriya, He was Hindu, and He

propagated this religion of nonviolence, Buddhism.”

The predicted appearance of Lord Kalki-

 

This is from Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.25, purport by

Srila Prabhupada-

 

Here is another foretelling of the advent of Lord

Kalki, the incarnation of Godhead. He is to appear at

the conjunction of the two yugas, namely at the end of

Kali-yuga and the beginning of Satya-yuga. The cycle

of the four yugas, namely Satya, Treta, Dvapara and

Kali, rotates like the calendar months. The present

Kali-yuga lasts 432,000 years, out of which we have

passed only 5,000 years after the Battle of Kuruksetra

and the end of the regime of King Pariksit. So there

are 427,000 years balance yet to be finished.

Therefore at the end of this period, the incarnation

of Kalki will take place, as foretold in the

Srimad-Bhagavatam. The name of His father, Visnu Yasa,

a learned brahmana, and the village Sambhala are also

mentioned. As above mentioned, all these foretellings

will prove to be factual in chronological order. That

is the authority of Srimad-Bhagavatam.

 

>From Srimad Bhagavatam 4.22.36p-

 

At the end of this Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as

the incarnation of Kalki, and His only business will

be to kill all human beings on the surface of the

globe. After that killing, another golden age will

begin. We should therefore know that our material

activities are just like childish play. Children may

play on the beach, and the father will sit and watch

this childish play, the construction of buildings with

sand, the construction of walls and so many things,

but finally the father will ask the children to come

home. Then everything is destroyed. Persons who are

too much addicted to the childish activities of

economic development and sense gratification are

sometimes especially favored by the Lord when He

destroys their construction of these things.

 

Lord Kalki is also mentioned in the Bible, where it

talks about the “rider on white horse with a sword”

which is a similar description of Lord Kalki. The

Vedic puranas also mention Lord Jesus Christ [isa] and

predicts the beginnings of the Muslim and Christian

faiths, talks about Noah, etc.

Next is Lord Caitanya’s prediction, 500 years ago,

that His names and the Hare Krsna maha-mantra would be

broadcast in every town and village in the world, and

how He will do this through His devotee, and we see

that our great acarya and Jagat Guru, or spiritual

master of the whole world, Srila Prabhupada has done

this-

 

There are many quotes on this, here is just one from

Srimad Bhagavatam 4.22.42p-

 

When Lord Visnu appeared in the great arena of

sacrifice at the time when King Prthu was performing a

great sacrifice (asvamedha), He predicted that the

Kumaras would very soon come and advise the King.

Therefore Prthu Maharaja remembered the causeless

mercy of the Lord and thus welcomed the arrival of the

Kumaras, who were fulfilling the Lord's prediction. In

other words, when the Lord makes a prediction, He

fulfills that prediction through some of His devotees.

Similarly, Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu predicted that

both His glorious names and the Hare Krsna maha-mantra

would be broadcast in all the towns and villages of

the world. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Srila

Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada desired to

fulfill this great prediction, and we are following in

their footsteps.

 

Here is a passage which reveals that this Hare Krishna

movement was predicted to begin with Lord Caitanya 500

years ago, and spread all over the world-

 

In Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi 1.102

Lord Caitanya appeared there, and Lord Nityananda

came there and joined Him from the district of

Birbhum. They appeared on the horizon of Gaudadesa to

spread the science of Krsna consciousness, and it is

predicted that as the sun and moon gradually move

west, the movement They began five hundred years ago

will come to the Western civilizations by Their mercy.

Here some mathematical details on the appearance of

Lord Krishna-

Caitanya-caritamrta Adi 3.11-

From the beginning of Brahma's day of 4,320,000,000

years, six Manus appear and disappear before Lord

Krsna appears. Thus 1,975,320,000 years of the day of

Brahma elapse before the appearance of Lord Krsna.

This is an astronomical calculation according to solar

years.

Here is statement of astrology, through which, one

knows past, present and future-

 

Caitanya-caritamrta Adi 17.104

Through astrology one can know past, present and

future. Modern Western astrologers have no knowledge

of the past or future, nor can they perfectly say

anything about the present. Herein we find, however,

that after hearing Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's order,

the astrologer immediately began his calculations.

This was not a facade; he actually knew how to

ascertain one's past life through astrology. A

still-existing treatise called the Bhrgu-samhita

describes a system by which anyone can immediately get

information about what he was in the past and what he

is going to be in the future.
