Guest guest
Thank you for taking the time to respond. You must understand that my sensibilities are essentially tantric, so I am likely to disagree both with a) a monolithic panacea (as tantra is a truly holistic worldview that looks to numerous potential causes and a buffet of customized solutions); and b) your own (albeit traditional) calumny against feminine energy, shakti and Mother Durga, Kundalini, Tara (and all her names). As the Aghori Vimalananda points out, it is She who sustains the phenomenal world in the relative scheme of things. [see Jyotishi Robert E. Svoboda's books for more precise quotes] As my training is Buddhist, I'm not locked into the specific Hindu genderization, but it's a language I can speak. Maya as maya is maya (Forrest Gump says, "Stupid Is as Stupid Does"), but Maya engaged passionately is a gateway to all mysteries. Denigrating "her" is the rotting leftover crime of a defunct era, and is precisely the cultural cause for the abuse of women, devastation of the earth, neurotic or worse religious sectarianism and many other capital problems because of which we all have to suffer. So I find certain of your pronouncements a bit problematic -- we will likely have to agree to disagree for the time being. So here this nonsectarian tantrika with Buddhist schooling dissents. Likely you may see me as a mangy dog who has entered a fine vegetarian Indian feast clutching his well-chewed bone. I remain your servant as well (those of us orbiting the Indic planet are inclined to relate in this way); however, some of your chores I will not perform, because I am off in the corner courting and wooing the Muse. My heart is delightfully broken out of longing for her. Guest guest
Hey everyone, want a good laugh? Here's what it's like for me to date you know. This is a response I got from my personal ad on . This one little paragraph that is. My response to her follows. It flowed, don't worry, I spend no time writing like this, it's easy. >Soory but you lost me after the sex and in bed stuff. I am all for great sex but want a friendship 1st then sex and love. Good luck in your lust hunt. Kim My response: Because I mention these facts of life, and my nature, in my ad, is bad, you seem to say. I do it to be honest and open, so that your time is not wasted away. If you look for a spouse, a man, a rock, one who is honest, to whom you can talk, who write's poetry, just as if he's speaking, than that is the mind whom above you tried tweaking. Kim was the name of my first wife, I've only had one, in this whole life, she too was blondish, and about your age, that karma repeats on me doesn't cause rage. I can tell you that friendship is easy for me, for I love like Christ taught us, it comes easily, in fact, I like people so much you see, that in my presence they can feel uneasy. And so it is, that I am alone, successful and handsome and working at home, wishing and hoping, that someday somehow, I find me a lass who'll stay like my cow. And I'll be her bull, on whom she depends, to ward off the blues, against enemies defend. My kimmie dear, you may not like me, but I want you to know, that I find you quite striking, and if you want a peaceful date, with someone of no pretention, educated and great, then you can come over, or I to your place, for I am to be trusted, I'm known everyplace. For just because I mention the bed, you seem to reject me or that's what you said, maybe it's rather because I have beard, or men like me, you think we're just weird In fact I was to be a priest, but to India I turned, or to the East, I learned so much, and brought it back, now books I write and software hack. I have no friends, nobody knows me at all, but in the world of astrology I stand really tall, and Hindu leaders know me most, Deepak Chopra for example to boast. I'm known by those who are deeply entwined is discovering truths, not wining and dine, for I am a scientist known worldwide, for research into soul and karma divine. This letter I've written with no pause or gap, for I truly am the man with the hat, of the brain, the genious, the poet, polymath, Davinci, Nostradamus, Galileo, like that. I really am harmless, a huggable bear, a Christlike persona, with Charisma and flair. But rejected I am for just being me, it's real and honest, but so unusually. I'm sitting alone, I have no friends, I'm in great pain, wishing it to end. I really am the person I say, I would really love to meet you today. We could be friends, of yes indeed, you don't need to screw me for me to be freed. I really just want someone of me care, to care about me, and for them I will care. I am really smart, of this there's no doubt, I know music, philosophy, religion I spout. The Bible, the Koran, the Gita and more, I've read all the books from the whole world galore. I've been around the world four times, in search of God and life Divine, I program computers, do video and art, but my emotions without friends are just falling apart. If you go to my website you'll see the reviews, the letters of thousands who love me profuse, but my work they know not me personally, who sits here crying, alone in Eugene. I'm a superior man, of great spirit free, a lover of Christ, all God's company, a lover of love, of serving God's will, I'm always teaching, to spirit instill. I'm worthy, I'm good, successful but prone, because of no wife, to complain and to moan. I admit this I say, because I'm not shy, nor do I try, to mislead you through lie. I want to be touched, loved as I am, by a woman who is sweet, who loves me, her man. Thanks, have a nice day, feel free to call me and tell me what a lusty fool I am again, no not really, you're a part of the pain so far. Feel like changing that? Do you really think that you're better than me because you want to be friends first? Of course I do too. That's so basic. Wow. Guest guest
Dear Das, Many of us hurt to know you are hurting, you know that. Not all want to write this out on a world wide list devoted to Jyotish, but many, many of us send you our heartfelt wishes for gaining what you need to make yourself healthy, happy and productive again. There was a time in my life when I had nothing to lose by believing in God, so I actively began to suspend my disbelief in God, and replaced it with a personal test.... of having faith that there is a God. Okay, so I wanted to know why was my life such a mess, God? (What a dumb question, He might have thought, and I realized it was a really unproductive question. Who cares why it's a mess? If I stand around wondering why the room is a mess, trying to find answers, it doesn't help anything! Next, I had read that God loves birds and flowers and provides food for the birds even though they do no sowing, and beautiful garments for the flowers even thought they do no work. And even more than the birds and flowers, God loves His children, all of us brothers and sisters on the earth. Because we are so dearly loved, it is impossible for God to refuse us our requests when we ask Him for something that is good, that is part of His Divine scheme of creation. Okay, that sounds easy enough! God, give me fabulous wealth, happiness, and good health! Thanks! I overlooked something. There's a requirement God has for His children. That they love each other, and in so doing for one another, those gifts of love are another expression of a living God...which means...by being loving to one another, we promote godliness, express goodness that manifests and strengthens our closeness to God and all of His creation. So I'd have to find a way to not only ask God to meet my needs, but I'd also need to show love to His Creation, whether plant, animal, or human, etc., thereby magnifying God's love in the world and pleasing my Creator at the same time. Then I could feel more worthy of receiving what I'd requested from God, too. So I started off by asking God, "What can I do that would be a service to Thee? Please let me know what You would have me do for others, that would make You pleased, that would be in keeping with my path that you have set before me, that would not be harmful to me or my life with my children, but would be a blessing to someone in need." I remained alert to hints that came to me. Daily, I looked for a chance to help others in small ways. Just like drops of water or grains of sand, little by little these helpful things could add up. Yes, the result was that I grew in understanding the reciprocal nature of living under God, our needs were met, and even beyond, in abundance, and many people were helped, including me, by the grace of my maker. I ask God for His help now, to define what He would like you and me to do for Him as part of His vast creation, in bringing goodness to the world today and tomorrow and all of the tomorrows. When we receive our daily hints of what is good to do for God's sake, let us act upon them immediately. Then we will know our requests are being relayed throughout the earth, and heaven itself will move to bring them into fruition. The last requirement, faith that our requests are heard and being acted upon, is best demonstrated by a heartfelt "Thank You, God, for hearing my request and getting it on the way to becoming manifest in my life!" Cayce said, "Mind is the builder. Thoughts are things." If I ponder repeatedly about the lack of something in my life, does that enforce it's existence, such as telling myself my room is messy, I don't have a car, nobody loves me, does that help it stay that way? It doesn't bring about a clean room! Pondering lack of something or someone does not bring abundance but reinforces the static or negative situation. So how do you bring about the end to static perceptions? Love, Carol

Guest guest
HARE RAMA KRISHNA OM GURAVE NAMAH dear Abbotji, My mail was not a criticism. It had the solution in it too. Shri Goravani Das was known to be associated with the Hare Krishna movement which entails its participants to chant the hare krishna maha mantra. There are 10 offences which have to be avoided , one of which is inattentive chanting. In the book hari nama chintamani, it is said that one has to chant in a mood of humility and pray to the energy of the lord to put him in the service of the all beautiful supreme lord who is the source of bliss to the living entities. it is also said that if one continues to chant without proper attention on the holy name, then it leads to cultivation of material desires in the mind of the person and this leads to further misery. if a person chants the mantra desiring material opulence, he will get that too.... but that's like going to the seashore to taste the seawater and tasting the sand instead. all this and more is explained in detail ( in a scientific manner ) by shri Isana Goura das in his book " The rising sun of the holy name" (more info on www.isekc.com).The word hare has 2 aspects - as the spiritual energy, she is Srimati Radharani and as the protector of material energy , she is Durga. Radharani is always at the service of Krishna. If one avoids association with Krishna by being inattentive to the holy names of Krishna, then calling hare will activate Durga mata who will give the native more opportunities to be bound within the material world ( as she is the jail warden of this prison or durg of material world). From Shri das' emails, i had the impression that his intellect is covered by material desires and this lead to yearning for association with material elements. When i had said "i feel that the root cause of the current happenings in your life is inattentive chanting and chanting without full surrender.", the solution is simply the opposite of the cause, "chant with attention and full surrender and obedience to Guru and gauranga". this requires faith in the holy name and guru. Chaitanya mahaprabhu's mercy is especially required and worship of Pancha tattva will help in the process. If a person is having trouble with chanting with attention, i would again refer the person to the book mentioned above. Please correct my understanding if i am wrong Your servant K.N.Sriram gjlist, Jiabbot@c... wrote: > Dear Sir, > > Would you care to elaborate on this rather bold assertion and/or offer > something constructive rather than pointed criticism? > > Why would you think that this simpistic message would help? > > Please amend. > > Sincerely, > > Jesse Abbot > > > In a message dated 8/10/2002 12:32:39 PM Eastern Standard Time, > snk110 writes: > > > > > > HARE RAMA KRISHNA > > OM GURAVE NAMAH > > > > Namaste Shri Goravaniji, > > After reading your personal emails on the list, i feel that the > > root cause of the current happenings in your life is inattentive > > chanting and chanting without full surrender. > > > > Regards > >
Guest guest
Dear Jesse ~ You have asked Sriram N Kizhakkemadam to elaborate on what you called a "bold assertion" with regard to his post to Das Goravani; however I think it was very constructive feedback. Quite simply, when we habitually chant the Holy Name of God rather than indulge our infinite and mundane thought patterns, we cannot help but heal energetically and enter into the Peace that passes Understanding. By habitually chanting God's Name - it is quite impossible to fail to achieve this peace, no matter who we are, in time, place and circumstance. Whatever the questions - whatever the problems - the answer - the solution - is always the same. Our thought habits are powerful influencers of our experience and destiny (future chart), '... for as a man thinks within himself, so is he, ' the Book of Proverbs tells us. Another observation from a very different tradition has it that 'If the mind becomes impure, for sure, our deeds will be impure.' Our thoughts are the drivers of our behavior and experience. Our thoughts are in continuous motion. The more we dwell on a subject, the more real it becomes to us and eventually it leads us to action. This is the basis of all training, learning by rote, conditioning, brainwashing and indoctrination - to fill your mind is to fill your life. No shortcuts. We need to notice what thought patterns we have cultivated. Our thoughts are either positive or negative in any given moment. It is impossible for our mind to be positive and negative in the same moment. The point of power is always in the present moment. Once we've chosen the quality of our thought the effect is that our mind is a fun place to be or a virtual hell realm, full of fear, regret, anger and guilt, with everything in between. From Mother Theresa to Hitler .. it's all inside us to be. Mantra is the spiritual soap; the vibrational cure to every form of dis-ease, without exception. To the degree that we chant japa is to the degree that we experience Solution or Source which is away from our pains. No shortcuts. I know that disparity abounds in our world. We are a long way from achieving universal equality of opportunity, yet there are some aspects of life that we all share equally; time is one of those. No matter who we are or where we live or the degree of our personal advantages or disadvantages, we all have twenty-four hours in each day. What we think and feel and do in those 24 hours makes all the difference in the quality of our experience. The beauty and benefits of chanting the Holy Name are (so) many: 1. Anyone can do it and no one is excluded. Health, age, gender, religion, race or intelligence do not influence our capacity to practice japa. 2. We each already have all that is needed or access to all that is needed to begin immediately. 3. We can chant the Holy Name of God anywhere and at anytime. 4. We can do it alone or in groups. 5. Fulfilment and satisfaction are guaranteed. 6. Every practitioner is a winner. It is impossible to lose anything when we chant. 7. There are no time limits. 8. We can go fast or we can go slow. Silent or aloud. The only thing that separates us from Guruji is the allotment of time in devotion. Happiness is not what we think .... It's something we feel. Success is not what we think .... it's how we think and Enlightment is not what we think ... it's what we don't think.
