Guest guest
Dear Ernst, Thank you for your posting. >The basic idea is that when Dhruva, the pole point, is exactly opposite >the Galactic Center (Joni will like that idea!) the Ayanamsa is 26:40, >this happens in the year 2228. I certainly also like that idea, since I have been thinking of it also. Could you please tell us what reference you found for this date in 2228? I checked the Deva-datta (Swami Sadasiva Giri) ayanamsa, it has exactly 22'37" less than Lahiri and it puts the ayanamsa of 26°40' on the spring equinox in 2228!!! Remarkably, I checked my dashas and it also gives perfect results (though it may be my mind who is telling me that). I'll give it a try with some other charts as well. Regarding the rate of yearly change, Varahamihira has given the number of 50 1/3 arc seconds per year. I don't understand how Tarun came to the idea of 31 seconds per year. That would give a change of 1 degree in about 116 years, while generally we accept it to be about 72 years, which has been confirmed by modern day astronomical observations as well. Please let me know your opinion. Yours sincerely, Dhira Krsna dasa
