Guest guest
Robert: My thoughts are not directed toward Mr. Prabhupada, he was a man of vision and it is very difficult (almost an impossibility) to accomplish building of 400 temples in some the most hostile places on earth, especially United State. The Christian right is so insecure that they'll go to any lengths to displace any other faith entering/encroaching into their teritory which is mainly the US. My thoughts are directed towards the organiztion that was evolved after the death of Mr. Prabhuada. PS. I lived in Vancouver for a few months and regularly went to the temple for praying and occasionaly enjoyed the feast as well. The problem I'm having is the higest divinity of Hinduism, Lord Krishna, being attached to scandals. MD gjlist, "Robert A. Guest guest
Dear monmuk11/MD, Sir, please stop maligning and disgracing the name of my guru's sacred mission, ISKCON, the International Society for Krsna Consciousness. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada wished to serve humanity, and he did so with love, compassion, and dignity, and ISKCON was the organized entity through which he accomplished this. There were bad things that happened after Prabhupada's departure, yes, and no one will condone these. Yet, so much good was done for this world through the courageous, noble, and magnificent efforts of Hare Krsna devotees and disciples under his guidance, past and present, that cannot be calculated. Person's of differing disposition, will gravitate toward whatever gunas, i.e. qualities of nature become them. Flies will find delight in stool, and will move to it with enthusiasm; the swans, however, can extract milk from even a polluted solution of water, because they only seek the nectar. Go to whatever quality of nature you wish, but I guarantee you, you will never find happiness, Amrta, or Moksha, by seeking to find the faults in others. Sincerely, Robert ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robert A. Guest guest
MD, Thank you for clarifying: At 04:49 PM 10/4/02 +0000, you wrote: >Robert: > >My thoughts are not directed toward Mr. Prabhupada, he was a man of >vision and it is very difficult (almost an impossibility) to >accomplish building of 400 temples in some the most hostile places on >earth, especially United State. Bear in mind, please, that any organization will have its faults and scandals. No one of us elder disciples will ever offer up any excuse for whatever travesties occurred after Prabhupada's departure. Regarding the efforts of my godbrothers: You have no idea of what kinds of austerities and sacrifices they (I) did, to help our gurudeva establish those temples, and publish those books. These devotees were the modern-day equivalents of great Rishis, who practically lived on air, and slept in vans, to bring Krsna Consciousness to the world. There is a much bigger picture here that you are not getting, perhaps because you came to ISKCON much later, maybe after Prabhupada's departure in 1977. >PS. I lived in Vancouver for a few months and regularly went to the >temple for praying and occasionaly enjoyed the feast as well. The >problem I'm having is the higest divinity of Hinduism, Lord Krishna, >being attached to scandals. I share that pain. I was the head pujari for Sri Sri Radha-Nila Madhavi in Seattle for a period of 8 years; I was trained in Deity worship and puja by Partha das in Vancouver, you may know him. Anyway, my point is: try not to see the scandal, and see the greatness of what this movement has done. After all, if you go to the birth place of Lord Sri Krsna in Mathura, you will find that there is a Mosque built over it (not a Hindu temple). In some places, times, and dimensions, even a temple hides the Deity, like smoke surrounds the fire. In Medieval times, the Deity of Radha Govinda in Vrndavana had to be moved under the cover of night, to Jaipur, because the Mogul emperor Aranghzeb sought to destroy the temple. Now, the temple still exists, and the Deities are receiving grand worship in that distant place, even to this day. Bear this in mind too: that whenever you take a strong, bold stand to serve and promote the Light, there will be vicious adversaries (from the Dark) who will seek to stop you. Because the Dark presents a strong argument to tear down your Divine mission, you do not need to be party to their politics, or ascribe to their views. This is sraddha, faith - it develops in time. "Cult" was the buzz-word of the 70's, used by adversarial forces who sought to stop the brilliance of the Hare Krsna movement, spreading like the rising Sun in America. Again, it comes back to faith. If you have that, then all the rest becomes irrelevant. Best wishes, Robert ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robert A.
