Guest guest
All, I have seen this thread about the circumstance when the Asc Lord is Rx on the Vedic Astrology list for some time now; I am copying this email to several other lists, in the interest that it may be of some assistance to the members of those areas. I think the major problem besetting Vedic Astrology, is its culture shock and lethargy towards modernity. As more and more people throughout the world gets wind of VA, they will have more and more trouble with the way signs and symbols are interpreted. Indeed, even in modern day India, so many of the ancient descriptions simply don't hold up. The Asc Lord is perhaps the single most important planet, in that it rules the single most important point in the entire chart. The Asc represents one's Identity, therefore, the Asc Lord also rules same. Benefic planets augment one's identity, whereas malefics tend to suggest problematic areas of identity development. Exactly where and in what ways depends on the nature of the planets involved and what houses they have control over in the chart. In the case of an Asc Lord that is Rx, I have found repeatedly that it is almost always a suggestion of delayed identity formation; Retrogression represents a delay, a problematic state of affairs, and while I am very well aware of how Vedic Astrological classics describe Rx planets in a favorable light, I cannot support this position. An ASc Lord that is Rx is most problematic indeed, unless, of course, other factors in the chart say otherwise. Over the past 4 years, I have been working very hard to update and invigorate the myriad of ancient Graha Yogas and the like, to bring them forward from the ancient past of India, into the modern day, Western World of the 21st century. I hope that others will pick up on my lead. Salaam, Mu ===== Mu'Min M. Guest guest
Bravo! Another astute post. Just in case you would like corroboration, I have the lord of my 1st, Saturn, retrograde and exalted in the 10th. Understand who I am and what I have to give too many years to develop and has only really falling into place in the last year or two....I'm 47. 35-37, Saturn's coming of age was huge, I looked up and started to see what others had told me. To this day I struggle with self promotion. Fortunately I have a web site. I can't sell myself, so I refer new clients who are trying to decide to the web site, so they can see if what I do and who I am jives with them and their needs. If anyone thinks this is due to a weak Sun, Sun is in Aries in the 4th. looking forward to more such posts. c
Guest guest
Right. This is the same point made by James Braha on p. 98 in his most recent book, The Art and Practice of Ancient Hindu Astrology. Braha also mentions that potential problems can arise if the 10th is retrograde -- slow career development. I wonder if it's true.
