Guest guest
This is from another list I belong to..big doings on jan 14th from another perspective too. My only thing to add is, i wonder if the shower is more effective if the watere was out of a coppere vessel? Any auyervedics want to comment on that?. ( And off the subject: I need to look at panchang for yesterday, Friday that is. I got word that I do indeed have the college credits to get into the alternative teacher's certification program here, in my case, for teaching art in public schools. Got to pass a couple more tests. Got over the first hurdle though, due to past school credits (finally somehow got those official transcripts in difficult circumstances) and by teaching for three years at a park dept program.. i don't know if I'll want to teach again, but it's closer to being an option, anyway. Gee, I can LECTURE out loud and get PAID for it, then. <LOL>) Best Wishes, Denise Truth, Simplicity, Love and Service Upcoming Event is Monday night/Tuesday morn Jan. 13/14 MAKAR SANKRANTI!!! I wrote and I wrote, and I hit the send button, and it never showed up anywhere....and tonight a friend informed me that we have been in a mercury retrograde since January 2. I thought I was just suffering from post-holiday tiredness or something, but this makes more sense. MAKAR SANKRANTI IS The Night of No Evil Spirits On the Earth!!! This is truly one of my favorites and the one night that is definitely worth staying awake from sunset on the 13th night through sunrise on the 14th morn. The process is to repeat mantra and pray, as there are no 'blocks' to your prayers and good intentions and Higher Self creations!!! They say prayers are worth about 1000 times the normal 'credit' on this night. GOD KNOWS WE COULD USE A BOON LIKE THIS ABOUT NOW, with the 'impending whatever' that is being orchestrated in the Middle East and with North Korea, plus all the other places they are not really talking about right now!!! After your full night of praying (or mantra or Higher Good INTENDING), you complete the ceremonial commitment by taking a bath at 4 a.m. **If in Haidakhan, you dip into the Gautami Ganga!** The word "bath" in this context means to pour water over the body, head to toe. Water in a bucket, with a big cup (lota), poured cup by cup, while repeating "Hara Ganga, Hara Ganga" will add a Holy Vibration to your tap water. We in the West call this a shower. It seems more authentic to me to use the bucket and lota rather than the shower head... (do as you wish with this). When in Haidakhan for this event, the tradition says that all the Gods and Goddesses come down from Mt. Kailash and dip in the river at 3 a.m. Then the 'regular people' take the bath at 4 a.m. benefitting from the Holy Vibration they leave in the water. Let us fill this universe with LIGHT on this auspicious NIGHT!! Love and blessings, p.s. Havan on Monday morning to celebrate the Makar Sankranti!! Please let us know if you'd like to be in on sponsorship. Om Namah Shivaya May Peace Prevail on Earth Om Namah Shivaya
