In my humble opinion, our forefathers (and Gurus), intended to assign

the time of acquiring 'prana' (the time when the baby takes his/her

first breath on his/her own) as the key factor. Typically the time of

baby coming out of the womb and taking first breath are pretty close

(within seconds of each other). So, the time of acquiring 'prana' was

replaced by "time of birth".

The last is correct. As for conception, we do take the timing of coitus,

when the seed falls in the womb, and calculate the good and bad of the

foetus in the womb according to that nisheka lagna.

Hello Upadhyay,

According to a book I have, the birth of a child is deemed at the time when

it touches earth, "bhu-sparsha".

As times changed, the first cry / breath is deemed as birth.

Re: [GJ] What Birth Time does one use???

Dear members,

The Janma kundali is an imprint of the planetary disposition and their

influence at the time a child enters the world . It is like the process of

oxidation which starts at the point a metal is taken out of the protective

medium. If that being so , the time of birth is the moment a child comes

out of the womb and is exposed ; irrespective of when he cries or takes the

first breath .

with regards

upadhyay
