Dear Das:

I was going to respond to your earlier letter about only believing in fate.

So, here goes.

I think the thing that attracts me the most to Jyotish is it's

transformative power.

I think, please pardon me for saying this, but I think your perspective is

too Saturnian....

I mean I understand it. There is that part of life.

Actions got done.... the vibrations of them are striking the whole universe.

and their repercussions....ie. consequences....will be coming back to us...

and

this is the essence of karma...

heck even modern science....says for every action there's an equal and

opposite re-action....

now, if we can only get them to understand this on a mental level of

psychology....

but.... this is only 1/2 the story....

there is a part of us....that is already free....

eternally free....

and as that ...soul part of us....connects to our human physiology....

and individual nervous systems....

we each one of us....exhibits....varying degrees of strength of action,

including power of will.....

Human beings have such an interesting and fascinating nature, to me....

Was a philosophy and education major in college.... got involved in

meditation, variety in the early 70's.... and if there was ever a case

for possibility of increasing free will....

that would be it....

each day that I meditate.... I feel ...the power ....growing within...

and believe...me it doesn't just roll out for you....

you still have to organize your life...around what's important to you...

and I have to 'strive' every day....

to make a living ....and still have time to...sit down and meditate....

to me.... and it would be interesting to look at your chart....

but.... I believe that heavy emphasis on fate is a

Saturnian....perspective...

and yet... I believe the free in life....comes to us... from Jupiter..

So...we should see in your chart...that Saturn's ruling over Jupiter....

Certainly your reference to.... being bi-polar, living and working at home..

are definitely....Saturnian traits....

But.... when you stir....the Jupiter pole..... either to meditate.... do

things like Ayurved and even yoga asanas....

you can begin to change.... your karmas....

life is progressive....and evolutionary....

and it's being that way..... from somewhere...

If we can get more in touch with that....somewhere.... we too...can grow

in power and strength...of even our wills....

Human beings have probably an unlimited potential nature.... One of the

reasons why I'm so attracted to the Vedic tradition, most recently... coming

from India...is because of all the great yogis and seers.... who are really

a testament....to man's potential...

to do and accomplish anything!

I practice the TM-sidhis program too...and so I believe but, from a lot of

wonderful personal experience.... that ... it's within human beings

potential... to levitate.... to walk through walls...

to do really anything....

One time when I was meditating... I had my awareness shoot up, from my

body...and merge with the stars....

then.... it decended.... kind of like that movie....powers of 10... and

my awareness went into my body....and explored the subtle inner realities

there as well...

When I came back to my normal awareness....I realized...wow.... the human

nervous system is amazing... It even has the potential to be the most

incredible...telescope and....microscope.... at the very same time!

In addition to meditating...about 16 years I began my study of Jyotish....

After even a couple of short years.... I started to notice something

profound was starting to happen to me...

Back then, I couldn't have understood it, but now...after many more years...

I know that studying...Jyotish.... is one of the most powerful things one

can do to change and improve one's life....

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it's primarely one of the

great Vedic sciences....which has to do with the great expansion of human

consciousness....into all it's innate...possibilities...

Well, whatever the reason... I'm now having the experience....at being able

to help others...grow in a way....

that helps move us....out of our malefic situations as described in our

charts...

and into more..strength, grace...and Mastery....over... parts of us...

previously we've been slaves to!

So...I hope you can open yourself up...to the possibilities.... of what

we've been talking about....

Though I do understand....your experience, too.

Sincerely, yours....

Mark Kincaid

ps... maybe the reason why the list has been so quiet is because.... people

instinctively want to grow and improve...

and

if it's all about fate... then why try? why do anything?

In fact, the founder of the TM program, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.... has

said...

this has been India's problem....

For hundreds of years, now.... it's been thought to be very hard to grow, to

meditate...to even change oneself...

as a result....the belief in fate has ruled... India....for a very long

time.

Maharishi has said this situation has been the reason why India has suffered

and remained in ignorance....in spite of being the home of the Ved...for

many more hundreds and thousands of years....

Also.... I love doing Jyotish for myself.... but I especially love doing it

for others....

Once you find the way in which Jyotish can be progressive and literally

transformative for anyone....

then no one's chart is too dark, or 'sticky' to use your word.... for

progress!

pss..... I also write a daily Jyotish Transits Newsletter that you and

members at gj....are invited to receive. It also covers many other aspects

of Jyotish, too. Feel free.... hhehee.... pun on words... to contact me at:

m.kincaid to ....

The newsletter is free!

Jai Guru!

Dear Mark and All,

I am not Das, but this being a public list, I am so

free to answer.

Sorry, but Das has Saturn Lord of 10 in the 9 th

Sagitarius with Jupiter. A marvellous Raja Yoga, don't

you agree. Jupiter in his own house is stronger than

Saturn, so your theory doesn't work.

No its not and I feel there is a great

misunderstanding there

Jupiter is an expanding influence, Saturn a

restricting one,

>

> Certainly your reference to.... being bi-polar,

> are definitely....Saturnian traits....

I disagree. In Hindu Astrology mental illness can be

caused by afflicted mercury, afflicted moon, afflicted

5th house (4th house) or all of these. In Das's chart

you find a seriously combust mercury in the 2nd house,

moon as lord of 4 conjunct ketu aspected by saturn and

Rahu in the 5th.

So there a multiple factors that come together. Its

not a case of being Saturnian or Jovian.

>

Saturn can meditate as well as jupiter to stay in your

terms. In fact Jupiter is more karaka for formal

ritualistic religion, which gets confirmed by Das's

life at ISCON. His father (Jupiter in 9)also was a

clergy man.

>

> you can begin to change.... your karmas....

karmas cannot be changed, only your mental attitude

can be changed by meditation. You are saying you are

into the "vedic Religion" then you should know that

basic fact.>

yes possible, but of what use is that going to be on

the path

these are wonderful experiences that many sadhakas

have. Their job is to urge the sadhaka on , they are

no end in themselves. You always have to ask, who is

experiencing all these siddhis.

I hope the same about you, too Mark.

I don't think this is the reason at all. It seems a

rather strange notion. Living your Karmas does not

restrict one from growth. And I don't see what that

has to do with not writing on the list.

I can only talk about my own reasons. I am going

through a difficult and don't always feel like

writing. Sometimes I am weary of expressing my views,

which often differ from other people's on the list.

Like today. I feel that different views are not really

appreciated.

I think Maharishi meant, that some people use fate as

an excuse to remain idle instead of working on

bettering their circumstances.
