Guest guest
Hi Mary:) I use a couple of house systems depending on intent at time. However; when using vedic, I stick to the whole sign houses. Is a personal choice and matter of what works and when, for the individual:) Blessings Dale
Guest guest
Greetings everyone. Hope you are all well. I have a question for those of you who started out with tropical zodiac and either switched completely to sidereal or use both: Do you use the full-sign equal house system when using sidereal or do you use the sidereal zodiac but keep whichever house system you use/used with the tropical (Koch, Placidus, Asc degree equal house, etc)? I guess I'm also asking: when you switch zodiacs, do you leave everything behind? I read in a book once that it was considered bad form to bring up the "which house system do you use" question at a tropical astrologers' cocktail party seeing as how a fight would ensue. Forgive me if it's bad form at the sidereal party, too. :-) Thanks to anyone who answers either on or off list. Guest guest
Dear Mary, Your questions are not original. I think everyone of us who were originally trained in one of the Western systems has asked the questions you are now asking. The shift from round to square charts can be a challenge for the old gray cells but after a while you will get used to it and will be able to bounce between northern and southern styles with easy. However, I don't think the round chart ever leaves our consciousness. As for the house system.......well I bought in 100% so use the full-sign equal house system as a rule however that doesn't mean the Bhava chart system is too far away. Time, practice and experience will help you make up your own mind. As for continuing to use the outer planets.........well that too is a personal thing. Being biased I suggest that you do drop them, if for no other reason than this will help you see the full force available without them. After you become accustomed to working without Neptune, Uranus and Pluto you may want to begin looking at them again to see if they really do add anything. One deciding factor will be your dedication to the teachings of the Maharishi. A wise person once said "There is no such things as a bad question." and we need to remember that. Have fun with your studies and kiss goodbye to any other form of entertainment. There is nothing in the world as interesing as astrology and I don't care if it is Vedic, Western, Chinese or any other kind, it's all great! Do enjoy........... Guest guest
Dear Mary, If you mean Vedic/Jyotish by Sidereal, I think you should use the "full-sign equal house" which is the traditional way (according to Parasara, Jaimini etc.). If you just mean "sidereal" then it's an open shot - never ending options and .... non the less plenty of confusion. The best way is to test it on a number of known (to you) charts and I'm sure the results will speak for themselves.
