What am I doing wrong? Sorry to be slow to answer. In JS3 it's different than that. The pref setting you set, is just for printing now. On the windows, you do it differently. Firstly, to set your main window setting, you double click a chart name in the list of charts. A chart window opens. Click in it, like right on the chart, and a small little window appears inside the chart itself, like a popup pallette. There you'll see the buttons for N, S, W and Tri-Wheel. Click the South one. Then open the pallette, there's a button for that at the top of the window. Click the button on the bottom of the pallette that says "Save" or some such. This saves your overall setting for that window as your default. So now when you double click it will always be Southern. Furthermore. You can change any of the saved windows I've got in there, and resave them as Window Styles. They will stay Southern etc., as you set them. So you save your default, firstly, then you save Window Styles the way you like them. This is very versatile. That was the key.
