VENUS RISING - LIGHT ON LOVE

Life on Earth is made possible by the seductive power of Venus, the Goddess of

Love, she symbolises the passion and delight we experience when we unite with

others. All spiritual teachings remind us that the goal of all goals is love

and the only crime is to fail to love.

On Tuesday, 8th June 2004 Venus will make a rare transit across the Sun where

she will cast a small shadow on its face that can be seen from 5.19am to

11.32am. This astronomical spectacle last occurred in 1882 and stargazers have

a treat in store, weather permitting. For those in BBC land they will be

covering the event live from 7am.

In Astrology we link physical events together with the mythological,

philosophical and spiritual to gain a deeper understanding of our experiences.

We believe that no event happens on a physical level that is not experienced at

an emotional and spiritual level also.

SUN is our central source of power and any changes to the quality of its light

will have an impact on all of life. From a spiritual perspective his heat

purifies our selfishness and he provides the light of knowledge necessary to

make us aware of where we have failed to love.

The focus on Tuesday and for the month of June is on the Goddess of Beauty and

Love; also know as Mother of the World, Lakshmi, Damatri, Aphrodite, Isis, Eve

and Venus. She is angry at the way she has been abused and degraded. As the

intensity of the Sun's light shines on her we are being asked to look at our

values and how we have dishonoured and betrayed her with our greed, fear and

anger.

Venus represents our longing to unite in harmony and when we reject her

everything becomes ugly. We become obsessed with either the promiscuous or the

puritanical and relationships suffer. There is no peace, no joy in the heart,

the image in the mirror becomes repulsive, there is no sharing and sex becomes

an obscene rather than a divine experience. Lacking self-worth we sell ourselves

short, become easy targets for advertising executives and use drugs and/or drink

to relieve the feelings of despair and loneliness.

Venus will be delighted to help us bring joy, peace and contentment back into

our lives and especially after the 29th of June, when this period of

introspection is over. By awakening to the power of the Divine Feminine and

looking for the sacred in the everyday we can come home from the wilderness we

have created.

When you look in the mirror, see perfection, recognise the Beloved. Take

pleasure in life by sharing a kind word with those you meet, decorate your space

with beautiful images and purify your food by blessing it. A warm smile and a

twinkle in the eye will warm any heart and needs no embellishment. These are

all symptoms of a healthy Venus and her highest offering is unconditional love,

it is now time to find something or someone to give it to and remember world

peace begins in your heart.
