I've researched the meaning of your dream using Hart Defouw's book

entitled, "Light on Life". The possible interpretation of the dream

is as follows:

The Dream

One such dream which had a meaning and really shook me occurred on

3rd april 1998. It was not before sunrise, but after sunrise around

8 am. In my dream I was walking to my home on a cloudy evening (as I

usually see myself doing in most of my morning dreams) with a light

drizzle falling. I passed by some dead mongoose on my way and thought

about who had killed them. As I reached the main road which lead to

my home, some tractors with their trolleys laden with vegetables

rushed past me. One of them ran off the road into a ditch and others

stopped and then started helping out the driver. They were

shouting, "Hurry up, the rule of the serpent is about to

> begin". I asked one of them about it and he pointed at the sky.

There a big pink cloud in the shape of a snake was twirling.

Interpretation

In order to interpret this dream, we need to understand the planets

that were operating at the time of the dream. At that time, you were

running the period of Jupiter/Saturn/Saturn. Saturn is in the 8th

house from the Sun, which not a good signifaction for the father.

Several malefic planets (including Saturn, Mars, Sun and Mercury)

were transiting Pisces, the 6th house from the Sun, which is not good

for the father as well. We will find that these planets were

represented in your dream as signified by the imagery below.

1. The drizzle refers to the location of the transiting planets

which were in Pisces, a wet constellation.

2. The dead mongoose refers to the subject of the dream. In this

case, the mongoose is a four legged creature which is an enemy of the

snake. The imagery represents the Sun, ruler of four legged

creature, and is an enemy of Rahu, the serpent.

Its death shows that the Sun, representing the father, is negatively

affected and is a malefic omen of events to come.

3. The tractors laden with vegetables refer to the trasiting planets

in Pisces.

4. One of the tractors that ran off the road represents the Sun,

since it rules the shape of a quadrangle.

5. The people in the dream represents Jupiter, ruler of bipeds, the

ruler of the Pisces constellation. The dream also occurred during

the mahadasha period of Jupiter.

6. Their shouts relating to the rule of the serpent, refers to the

triumph of the Sun's enemy. This same message is repeated in the

twirling cloud in the shape of a snake.

Thus, we see that various images of the dream refer to the father and

how it will negatively affect him.

Prashna Marga states that dreams that occur prior to waking up will

happen during the same day. As such, your father met with an

accident on the afternoon of that day.

Dear John,

I am really thankful for this brilliant interpretation of

my dream. The representations of various planets in my dreams has given me

new insight about my horoscope.

There are some points which I would like to add. You have studied

the case keeping sun (father) as a focus. If we take mars, lord of tenth, as

the focus of study, then we get the following results:

Mongoose is a very aggressive and fearless animal. It can also

represent mars in exaltation in my horoscope. Mars is conjunct Rahu, the

serpent, in seventh house. Mars again controls the malefic nature of Rahu,

but rahu has considerably reduced the positive effects of mars, thus

affecting tenth house(father) somewhat. Dead mongoose and serpent becoming

powerfull means a danger to father but not life threatening. Rahu does not

kill suddenly but causes worries, tensions and anxiety.

As it happened, my father was all right at first, then due to the

effect of anaesthia on his hypertension he collapsed. We were left worrying

about a possible brain damage or a much serious problem. But, nothing of the

sort was there and he recovered within a week. Mars was conjunct sun, saturn

and mercury in ninth house, the house of travels (on road accident) and

twelfth from tenth too. Mars was at the same degree with eigth lord saturn.

When my mother expired on 2nd april 1981, sun, mars, venus were

together in pisces, the sixth house from fourth. Venus and mars were

completely combust and were in direct aspect by retrograde saturn (eighth

lord) and jupiter (sixth lord. house of disease) from third house. saturn

again rules seventh house (Mother's heart), and it was in third, twelfth

from fourth. She suffered three subsequent heart attacks between 2pm to

9.15pm and she died on 9.15 pm. Moon and mercury were also in eighth. She

had also seen freshwater snakes surrounding her in a dream the night before.

Your analysis of all symbols is excellent. I think that the exalted

mars gives me certain intuitions about my father and my wife too, but Rahu

always manages to blur the visions. I would like to lay my hands on Hart

Defouw's book, "Light on Life".
