Guest guest
To all members: I've been reading a book, entitled "The Lost Realms", by Zecharia Sitchin. His premise was to show that the Pre-Columbian peoples of Mexico and South America were influenced by advanced beings who visited the Earth in prehistoric times. He presented his case by showing the high technical knowledge required in constructing the various pyramids in Mexico, particularly the Yucatan area. Specifically, this knowledge included the concept of pi, which was similarly known by the Egyptians. The author's ideas are fascinating in itself. However, in reflecting about these phenomenon, we could make a proposal that these people in Mexico and South America had developed independently from the rest of the world civilizations. They developed ideas in engineering and constructions out of their own inherent consciousness. Based on the various motifs shown in these ancient constructions, it appears that the indigenous people were heavily influenced by Rahu, as depicted by the various symbols of the serpent in their culture. As such, their culture must have been unusual as compared to the present cultural norm. From the historical facts we can gather, the people of that time period practiced human sacrifices to appease the gods. As a culture of Rahu, their civilization must have been volatile, although it accomplished a fairly high level of sophistication in their study of astronomy and development of their own calendar. The volatility in the culture can be seen in the various tribal warfare that the people engaged in. If the European culture had not intervened in the history of these indigenous peoples, we can only speculate as to how their culture would have developed. Could they have developed a more comprehensive society that integrated the various impulses of intelligence (the grahas) for the benefit of their own people? Regards, John R. Guest guest
Hi John, I find your musings fascinating about a culture of Rahu in distant Meso-American history, which would explain the evidence of warring and human sacrifice that took place during certain periods. There certainly are many fascinating correlations to be drawn between Quetzalcoatl, the winged and feathered serpent god of Mayan and Aztec culture, and the nagas and dragons that form the core of creation myths throughout the world. From my limited reading, I believe that most world cultures share common roots going back farther than we can even imagine, even beyond Atlantis, from where many alternative historians believe Quetzalcoatl originated. In his brilliant series of books on Sumerian history, Zechariah Sitchin takes us back hundreds of thousands of years to Earth's supposed extra-terrestrial (reptilian?) origins! Happy summer reading!
