Guest guest
Thankyou very much for the valuable piece of information. Kelly Hunter and titled "The Dark Goddess Lilith" (she also wrote a book called _Black Moon Lilith_) may be found at:http://www.mountainastrologer.com/hunter.htmlThe second article is on Astro-com and may be found at:http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_lilith_e.htmAs Ms. Hunter explains in her article, there are three different points that need to be distinguished from one another: the Asteroid Lilith; the controversial and perhaps mythical Dark Moon Lilith, said to be the Earth's second Moon; and, Black Moon Lilith, an abstract, geometrical point in space. The latter is the one I use. Evidently, the astrological tradition of Black Moon/Lilith came quite recently from an astrologer in France. The Black Moon is a geocentric point that can be calculated like a mean or true node. Just as with the lunar nodes, this can be calculated for the sidereal or tropical zodiac. I use it quite successfully with sidereal charts. Solar Fire software calculates it as a mean point accurate within 1 minute of arc. The Black Moon is not a physical body but an abstract, geometrical point, like the Ascendant or the Vertex. It is a geocentric poisition of the empty focus of the moon's orbital ellipse, with the earth at the other focus. Because the Moon's path around the Earth is elliptical, as opposed to circular, it has two foci, or centers, the Earth being one and Black Moon Lilith the other. The Black Moon is called the apogee of the Moon's orbit-the place where it is farthest from Earth. If you do not have software that calculates this point, I believe the Swiss Ephemeris has it, at least in the Tropical positions, and then you can just convert it Sidereally. You might check this site for a downloadable ephemeris:http://www.astro.com/swisseph/swepha_e.htmRecently I read that the True Black Moon is actually different from the Mean Black Moon and is called "Druj." I am not sure about this but you may want to read up on it at: http://astrologer.ru/book/dark_moon/index.html.en On the physical plane, especially in transit, the Black Moon can signify danger or mysterious circumstances. On a psychological level, the Black Moon is said to reveal our relationship to the absolute, and how we let go. In other words, it can point out the psychological shadow and also our potential to connect with the Divine. It can show where we are wounded emotionally. The Black Moon is also said to relate to the tantric goddess energy. On occasion, when I study astrological charts, the Black Moon stands out and speaks to me, but usually it is mostly irrelevant. In the chart for the shuttle landing on 8/8 in early morning, it was quite pronounced because it was conjunct the chart lord, and caused me to feel concern that the mission would have been in danger had it landed at the scheduled time earlier today. Recently I did a chart for a client (sorry I cannot share the data) with a very interesting grand sextile (Star of David) that was missing one link at the IC (base of the wheel chart), and here sat the unaspected Black Moon at a late degree of Pisces. This configuration combined with other factors revealed a rare gift of self expression and a desire to fulfill some grand ambitions, but something had inhibited this individual from doing this fully throughout 40 some years of life. It is as if there is a black hole or emptiness where this native feels incomplete and totally unsupported, "without any ground beneath her," as she described it. This person had been the victim of horrendous sexual abuse and deep psychological wounding from her mother and other family members in early childhood, and this has led her onto a spiritual/yogic quest for Self-discovery. It is only through her spiritual surrender to the Divine Mother that she is finding what she feels is missing in herself. The Dark Moon in her chart shows the deep sorrow she has experienced, but also the potential for so much grace.I hope this helps,Juliana: For software visit: Links<*> To visit your group on the web, go to:valist/<*> To from this group, send an email to:valist<*> Your use of Groups is subject to:Do You ?
