As Gita says – There is action in inaction and inaction in action! A paradoxical truth!

Ah yes. The Gita. What a great book on truth!

As I explain and ponder, I always refer back to the Gita. I know it well. Have

read it in part or whole so many times. I have never read any book with so much

pure unadulterated truth in it. The great glory of Prabhupada and his Hare

Krishna movement, despite all the faults and problems, is that they spread the

Gita in the West. Thank you Prabhupada.

The Gita lays out clearly what I believe and say. And yes, this main truth of

life, which astrology points to, is a paradox, to the mind generally.

Caitanya, the Hindu saint of 500 yrs ago, said also that the truth is an

inconceivable paradox.

I have found it to be conceivable, but in being able to conceive it, I have also

sacrificed my “sanity” so to speak. Of course, the intelligent

amongst us here on this rather holy list (holy- argh, hate that word, but this

is Angle-ish after all, and limited to Christian thinking) should be able to

know that “Sanity” is very relative.

The Gita lays out that we are witnesses in a field of activity which has

it’s own movement and plan. We are JUST witnesses, but it is arranged

such that we can have the maya, the illusion, that we are more than witnesses,

that we in fact are controllers.

The Gita gives all the supporting points and arguments to this central theme.

It’s a wonderful philosophical book.

The key to mysticism (being Merlin) is to know that you are in a large system.

It is to be the witness. Start witnessing everything. See it all working in

perfect order. Then, pretend you made something happen that was going to

happen anyway, and watch the fools start worshipping you! After awhile such

tricks are boring, and you resort to living away from humanity, the poor

misdirected lot.

Thank you for your kind reply Prakash.

Despite whatever spiritual knowledge I have, I am still a baby in terms of

loving recognition and support. Weird. Life is weird.

Love to all,

suffer the results of one's karmas?

Namaste Vivek,

Suffering implies the person has an attachment for a desire that is

not fulfilled. If the person is truly living at a higher level of

consciousness, then this suffering would not exist for the person is

already in a blissful state. His desires are fulfilled, or if he

desires something it would be fulfilled. In effect, this person

would have mastery over nature.

In my own reflection of the mystery of suffering, other prophets like

Christ voluntarily took on suffering to show the message of

transcending the attachment to materialism, even life itself.

Unfortunately, many Christians believe that the true believers must

suffer as well. I believe the message has been confused.

Similarly, certain concepts in the Bhagavad Gita have been

misinterpreted. In particular, I find that there is a certain degree

of fatalism that is involved in interpreting the Gita which hinders

the growth of a person's consciousness and effectiveness in daily

activities.

As I understand, after studying the Gita for the last 35 years, there is a

choice regarding one’s actions – but only for those who are

enlightened. Those who are NOT enlightened with the knowledge of the Gita are

destined to enjoy or suffer the results of their previous good or bad karma.

Those who are not enlightened are stuck with their karma and can’t change

it, their destiny has been ‘written’ in stone for them. And who

wrote their destiny?

Everyone architects their own destiny either knowingly or unknowingly with their

positive or negative actions. Thus Nature holds every individual

‘responsible’ for their actions, and She delivers those results

through the planets, the nava grahas. Its a fair play system. No one gets

whammied or rewarded for nothing. Each of us has a ‘karmic account’

with Nature and no one can withdraw credits that have not been deposited in the

form of punya, pious acts, as defined in the Vedas, Vedic writings, and in the

Gita.

So to avoid getting surprise bad reactions from pervious lives one must become

enlightened with the knowledge of the Gita. As stated in the Gita,

transcendental knowledge is the highest thing in the material world because

just by its enlightenment negative planets in one’s horoscope become

significantly reduced. This Vedic prescription (prayascitta) works much more

powerfully than any gemstone. But those who lead their lives

‘unknowingly’ in ignorance of Nature’s system, abusing

Nature’s system for the material world as given in the Gita, can’t

avoid their own negative karmic reactions.

..... “Oh Loving Mother [Gita], destroyer of a soul’s rebirth into

darkness of this material world, upon Thee I meditate”.

If we all lived in harmony with Nature’s system as given in the Gita there

would be no more hurricanes to deliver collective bad karma, peace and

enlightenment, and material and spiritual progress. Educate, educate, educate;

enlighten, enlighten, enlighten.
