Guest guest
Kalyana Varma in his Saravali, Chapter 51 talks about Navamsas. According to him there are 9 Navamsas in each Rasi. My question is how does one pick out the appropriate navamsa in the case of an individual there being a total of 108 navamsas altogether? Looking forward to hearing from you. Guest guest
Dear David, The first verse of Chapter 51 itself is a clear answer to your question. All that he refers to in Navamsha chapter is wrt: 1.Navamsha of Lagna or ascendant 2.Navamsha of Moon He says that the stronger of #1 and #2 should be considered effective. If you are using a prashna chart, then the ascendant at the query occupies a Navamsha, which is of much importance. Hope you got the answer. yours KAD valist, David Andrews <andrews635> wrote: > > Dear members, > > Kalyana Varma in his Saravali, Chapter 51 talks about Navamsas. > According to him there are 9 Navamsas in each Rasi. > My question is how does one pick out the appropriate navamsa in the case of an individual there being a total of 108 navamsas altogether? > Looking forward to hearing from you. > > David > > > > FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click. >
Guest guest
Thank you for your kind reply. However, I have one question that has not been answered. There are 108 navamsas in a chart and how does one pick out the Navamsa that is appropriate to the nativity in question. Let me simplify the question by stating that the native a chart has Meena (Pisces) as his lagna. How does not pick out the appropriate navamsa from the 108 navamsas. Hope you could help me and many of us here with that question. Thanking you. David kadrudra <kadrudra > wrote: Dear David,The first verse of Chapter 51 itself is a clear answer to your question. Guest guest
Thank you for taking the time to explain the question posed. David Juliana Swanson <omhamsa > wrote: Dear David,Each constellation is divided into nine equal parts of 3 degrees/20 min. longitude. The first 1/9 of any given constellation is governed by the Chara/Cardinal sign of that element, followed by the rest of the signs from it in order through the zodiac. So for someone with a Pisces Lagna, the first Navamsa (first 3 degrees 20 min in Pisces) is the Cardinal sign of Water, which is Cancer. For Pisces, it goes like this:1. 0-3/20= Cancer2. 3-6/40=Leo3. 6/40-10=Virgo4. 10-13/20=Libra5. 13/20-16/40=Scorpio6. 16/40-20=Sagittarius7. 20-23/20=Capricorn8. 23/20-26/40=Aquarius9. 26/40-30=PiscesSo if the native's Janma Lagna is 26/40 Pisces, for instance, the Navamsa of the Lagna is Pisces too, which is called Vargottama, "in the best division" which gives great strength for good or ill. If the Lagna is at 2 degrees Pisces, it is in the Navamsa of Cancer, and so on.Each graha has a Navamsa calculated in this manner. Then, you can erect a Navamsa chart using the Navamsa Lagna as the 1st house and placing all the other grahas according to their Navamsa positions. Many astrologers consider the Navamsa chart to be the most important varga chart, even more important in some ways than the Rasi chart. The Navamsa chart can be used to read all the domains of a native's life and is said to refer specifically to spirituality, marriage, relationship capacity, and partners. Some call the Navamsa chart "the fruit of the tree," with the Rasi as the tree, and thus, some say that the Navamsa chart can never stand alone but always should be read in support of the Rasi. This is controversial and I will probably have to study at least another 100 years before I can offer an intelligent opinion. However, I am sure other members of this forum will have opinions they might wish to share.Among astrologers, there are different ways to work with the Navamsa chart. Some astrologers say it governs more of the second half of life than the first. Some say that a strong Navamsa chart but a weak Rasi chart reveals a powerful soul in a difficult incarnation, and vice versa, so that a strong Rasi and a weak Navamsa may signify a strong personality with some inner/spiritual challenges. A graha (or the Lagna) that is weak in the Rasi but strong in the Navamsa is said to gain strength. So for example, if a graha is debilitated in the Rasi but exalted in the Navamsa, this can be a factor that cancels debility (Neecha Bhanga).Namaste,Julianavalist, David Andrews wrote:>> Dear friend,> > Thank you for your kind reply.
