Guest guest
Dear Sri Juliana Swanon. Astrological classics like Devakralam, BPHS, Jatak Parijaata, Prashna Marga and others speak of certain sensitive points in birth chart where the transits of Saturn or other malefic like Rahu are said to spell much suffering and disaster. One such sensitive area is 64th Navaamsa from the Navaamsa occupied by the Navaamsa occupied by the Moon or the Lagna ( Ascendant). The 64th Navaamsa from that occupied by a planet would be the same Navaamsa in 8th sign, in order of sequence.. for example suppose a planet occupies 8degree 30 ‘ in Mesha ( Aries ). So it would be in 3rd Navaamsa in sign Aries. 64th Navaamsa from that planet would be the 3rd Navaamsa in Scorpio. 64 divided by 12 gives a balance of 4; so the 64th Navaamsa sign will be 4th sign from planet’s Navaamsa sign. In the above example in the Navaamsa Chakra the said planet would be in Gemini, the 64 th navamsa would be Virgo in Scorpio sign. However usually by 64th Navaamsa it is understood in reference to Lagna or Moon. Jaataka Paarijaata cha 4 verse 56 says: BILAGNE JANMAATDREKANAADYASTU DWABIMSATY KHARAH SUDHAAKAROPGAMSHRKHYAAT CHATUH SATHYAMSAKO BHABET. The 22 Drekkana from that of Drekkana occupied by the Ascendant is called KHARA ( meaning cruel) . the 64th Navaamsa from that of the Navaamsa occupied by the moon is called KHARA ( cruel) Navaamsa. However some authorities take Ascendant also along with Moon as the reference points Jatak Deshamaarga speaks : JANMANI LAGANAPAGOTACCHANDRAOPAGATANNBAMSAKADWAPI CATURATTSHSTYAMSHKABHE LAGNE BA SAMAADISHOMARANAM. Death may take place when the moon in his transit enters 64th Navaamsa reckoned from Navaamsa occupied by the ascendant at birth or moon or when such Navaamsa sign is rising at that time.. Similarly Brihat Parashara Hora says: When the sign representing 64th Navaamsa from ascendant or moon rises, or 7th sign from 8th house rises or 7th hose sign from ascendant rises ; one may depart from this world if any one of this rising signs devoid of bindus ( benefic points) in the Astakavaraga of the lord of the ascendant , the Dasa during that time is of an adverse planet. Hora Ratnam speaks of Rahu in its transit on this sensitive point may cause great harm. I think Chandrakalaa Naadi ( Deva Keralam) speaks of Saturn s transit on this point as highly malefic period. Whatever it may be malefic transits on this point causes some or other form of disaster esp if the adverse planets Dasa runs at that time is agreed by all. Consider the Horoscope of Mrs. INDIRA GANDHI the late prime minister of India. Her ascendant is cancer 27degree 3” in Pisces Navaamsa – 64th Navaamsa from it is Gemini Navaamsa in Aquarius. Saturn was in 10-29-32 when she lost her mother. Some are also of opinion that when benefic planets transit the said point one may also get excellent results. As per your point that whether that if ”benefics are transiting these points, they will not be able to givetheir full promise, all other factors being equal. For instance, ifJupiter is transiting the 11th house it might be a gainful period ifthe native is running auspicious dasas, especially if Jupiter is abenefic planet natally, the AV bindus are high, if Jupiter is makinggood aspects, etc. However, if the 64th navamsa falls in the 11thhouse, might this deflect from the good that is promised byJupiter's transit and might it even cause difficulty to thesignifications of the planet in transit?” i think the answer would be ‘no’ as no authority ( as far as I know) speaks of benefices transiting the said point would not give the expected result esp when the other conditions are favourable. However this is my personal opinion and stands to be modified by all means. consider a practical horoscope in which the ascendant is in Virgo Navaamsa in Cancer . so the 64th Navaamsa is Sagittarius in Aquarius . He was conferred a much coveted honor when Jupiter was transiting the same Navaamsa However much research in this area is needed to pronounce a definite answer. But the fundamental principle of astrology applies here as well: not a single point can pronounce a result and Gochara and Dasa should always be reconciled along with Astakavarga. And one humble suggestion : if one wants some detailed description of Gochara esp of special and interesting rules like this one could study with advantage Chandrakalaa Nadi. I think a translation in to English is available by R.Sanatanam.
