Guest guest
Namaste Solai Kannan, If we are to Start the basics, I would like to suggest we cover Bhavata Bhavam knowledge...pls consider this on the scheudle at some point... ! Shanti, Shanti Shanti Frank in Austin , Fschmidt (AT) Austin (DOT) rr.com Solai Kannan [solai (AT) theihb (DOT) com] Sent: Sunday, October 28, 2001 1:51 AMsjvcSubject: [sjvc] Small exercise OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH JAYA JAGANNATHA Namaste Jyotisha, We are preparing the initial lessons on various topics. Soon, we will have them. Meanwhile, you can ask any astrological related questions and you can share your views and ideas among us. In any subject, basic is important, especially in subjects like Jyotish. Even though we read many books, some of the techniques are not possible to explain in detail in a book. For example, in all texts divisional chart preparation is given. We will use our mathematical knowledge and we will spend some time and find out where each planet is falls in each divisional chart. We do it for the 1st time and we will rely on the software for the rest of our life. But, in India, many Jyotishas not even use calculators for the calculations. In many Jatakas, only Nakshatra padas occupied by a planet will be given. With that information, people cast the Rasi and Navamsa chakra. If any of the Jyotisha from SJVC or Varahamihira visits a village and claims that he is from SJVC and if the Village Jyotisha gave this pada information and ask the SJVC student he must be able to draw the chart without any reservation. That is why our Gurudeva used to tell us to draw the chart by hand and cross verify with computer. But, many of us are not doing so. We have to prepare the charts and dasas manually in the beginning. Now, as far as the Nakshatra and pada calculation, you could have got from any standard book. But I will briefly explain. We have 27 Nakshatras. Each Nakshatra has 4 padas. So, there are 108 padas in total. Each rasi has 9 padas. For example, in Aries - 4 padas of Ashwini, 4 padas of Bharani, and 1 pada of Krithika. Next in Taurus - 3 padas of Krithika, 4 padas of Rohini and 2 padas of Mrigasra. It continues in a similar manner. Now, 9 padas multiplied by 12 signs, we will have 108 padas. So, all these padas will completely fill all the 12 signs. Coming to Navamsa calculation. The standard definition is : The Navamsa calculation are for a movable rasi from there itself, for a fixed rasi from the 9th thereof and for a dual rasi from the 5th thereof. When we apply Nakshatra pada, the definition is simple: Ashwini onwards, each pada occupies one sign in Navamsa chakra starting from Aries. That means, 1st pada of Ashwini falls in Aries Navamsa, 2nd pada of Ashwini falls in Taurus Navamsa, 3rd pada of Ashwini falls in Gemini Navamsa, 4th padas of Ashwini falls in Cancer Navamsa, 1st pada of Bharani falls in Leo Navamsa......1st pada of Kritika falls in Sagitarius Navamsa. With this, dividing Aries rasi into various Navamsa is over. Now, the starting pada in Taurus is 2nd pada of Kritika. This will fall in Capricorn Navamsa, 3rd pada of Kritika falls in Aquarius Navamsa. So, the cycle of pada rotates in the Navamsa in similar manner. Here is a small exercise based on pada. 1. Prepare the Rasi and Navamsa chakra or chart for the following Nakshatra pada information. Ascdt - Aasresha - 3rd pada Sun - Anuradha - 1st pada Moon - Uttarashada - 3rd pada Mars - Poorva Phalguni - 1st pada Mercury - Anuradha - 3rd pada Jupiter ® -Rohini - 2nd pada Venus -Poorvashada - 3rd pada Saturn -Aasresha - 2nd pada Rahu -Moola - 4 pada Ketu -Aardra - 2 pada 2. List the corresponding Nakshatra padas which will fall in the same Navamsa of the above planets. For example, in the Aries Navamsa, 1st pada of Ashwini, Rohini, Punarvasu, Magam, Hastam, Vishakam, Moola, Shravana, Purva Bhatrapada, will fall. 3. What are the padas which will give Vargottama status? Thanks Solai Kannan OHM TAT SAT
Guest guest
HARE RAMA KRISHNA. VYAM VYASADEVEAYA NAMAH. Dear Gurudev, Thanks for your first exercise.I really have no words for your kindness.I feel that I am very fortunate to have Gurus in the SJVC list who are highly concerned for students without expecting anything personally from the student.Thank you once again for your causeless mercy. Please forgive me if I have offended anybody in the past.I now understand that the Guru knows what is best for the student just like the old zen saying "When the student is ready, the master will come". I have given my answer below: > 1. For example, in the Aries Navamsa, 1st pada of > Ashwini, Rohini, Punarvasu, Magam, Hastam, Vishakam, Moola, Shravana, Purva > Bhatrapada, will fall. Ans)Taurus navamsa: 2nd padas of Ashwini,Rohini,Punarvasu,Makha,Hasta,Visakha,Moola,Shravana,PurvaBhadr apada. Cancer navamsa: 4th padas of Punarvasu,Makha, hasta,Visakha,Moola,Shravana,PurvaBhadrapada,Ashwini,R ohini. Leo navamsa:1st Padas of Bharani,Mrigasira,Pushyami,Poorvaphalguni,Chitta,Anuradha,Porvashadha, Dhanishta,Uttarabhadra. Libra:3rd Padas of Bharani,Mrigasira,Pushyami,Poorvaphalguni,Chitta,Anuradha,Porvashadha, Dhanishta,Uttarabhadra. Capricorn: 2nd Padas of Krittika,Aridra,Aslesha,UttaraPhalguni,Swati,Uttarashadha, satabisha,re vati. Aquarius navamsa:3rd padas of Krittika,Aridra,Aslesha,UttaraPhalguni,Swati,Uttarashadha, satabisha,re vati. Thus , the rule seems to be simple.Ashwini and every 4th nakshatra thereof have their successive padas from aries to the next 4 signs (corresponidng to the 4 padas), bharani and every 4th nakshatra thereof have their successive padas from Leo,krittika and every 4th nakshatra thereof have their successive padas from Saggitarius. > > 3. What are the padas which will give Vargottama status? Ans:)1st pada of movable, 5th of fixed and 9th of common signs give vargottama status. The corresponding pada of the nakshatra will rotate cyclically from 1 to 4.Thus, Ashwini-1,Rohini-2,Punarvasu-3,Punarvasu- 4,Pubba-1,Chitta-2,Chitta-3,Anuradha-4,Uttarashadha-1,Uttarashadha- 2,Satabhisha-3,revati-4. > > Thanks > Solai Kannan > OHM TAT SAT
