The Sun's movement in the sky as observed from the earth seems to be movingaway

in Winter and coming closer in Summer. The angle of tilt of the earth,its spin

and the rotation of the earth around the Sun actually make itappear so. It

reaches a Northern Zenith in Summer and in the Northern Winterit seems to dip

below the horizon more than it does rise above it. At twopoints which are the

equinoxes the Sun seems to almost hover in the samepart of the sky.

Parashara talks about the Nakshatras and the Grahas. The Nakshatras arelike

bracelets or wide belts studied with stars. They are always fixed andthe moving

bodies or Grahas seem to claw their way around the Nakshatrasgoing from one

pattern of stars to another. The Nakshatras provide thecontext for the grahas.

Much like a person who goes into a house undercoloured light and becomes

changed in appearance but is the same in essence.So too the grahas whilst

beiong very individualistic can temporarilly takeon the eternal qualities

belonging to the Nakshatras.

The Sun has just moved into the Morning house. Though in symbolism it is the

hidden 12th house. The Sun's position in the Zodiac is Sidereal Virgo making it

just past the Fall of the year. The Terrestial Longitude is 121w far from

Greenwhich and going towards the International Date Line or 180 degrees

Longitude. The Terrestial latitude is North meaning the the birth was in the

Northern Hemisphere 37 degrees North of the equator band around the centre of

the physical earth. The Sun is moving toward Dakshinayana or Winter. Rahu,

Saturn, Mars, Venus, the Sun and Mercury are above the horizon. Jupiter, Ketu

and the Moon are below the horizon.

difference. I expect others also to sharpen this a bit: What do the Nakstras or

Rasis indicate, and what do the Grahas indicate? What is the relationship

between the Grahas and Rasis lorded by them?
