You know a lot about Jyotish. What about Upagrahas? Which category do they

fit in? My question was actually about the ASTROLOGICAL and not astronomical

difference between the two. The rest is fine. Please others also think about

this question more deeply.

Dear Gauranga Das,

 

Sorry about that.

According to Parasara the Upagrahas are mathematical points which are

computed/calculated by various combinations in relation to a reference point

(like the Sun's longitude etc.). I will not go into deep details here as they

are found in the standard text and many other books. However there are 11 of

them and they are divided into two groups with attached status (malefic etc.).
