Dear Gauranga Das,

Namaste,

I do apologize as my replay was fired away before I finished writing it so I

continue here ->

The major difference between the Nakshatras and Upagrahas is as follows:

The Nakshatras are an entire system (probably the oldest) based on a finer

division of the zodiac constituting of 13:20 degrees where the Moon enters a

new Nakshatra each day during it monthly cycle. There are 27 Nakshatras with

their own lords (i.e. rulerships) and own interpretation combined with the

placement of the planets in their spectrum (both birth and transits). They

provide much more specific information than just using the sign

interpretations. Further the Nakshatras are divided into 4 padas each (can be

seen as the connecting part of the Nakshatras with the regular zodiac).

Upagrahas are mathematical points where some of them represent parts (or

portions) of planets. As an example Gulika represent a part/portion of Saturn

and is regarded malefic in nature. Therefore Upagrahas are a "stand alone"

points with respective interpretations depending on their placement in the

chart, while the Nakshatras division is an entire system.

Kind regards

Jay Weiss
