Guest guest
Namaste, As I only joind this class testerday I hurried to answer the questions and submit here my answers to lesson 1 "Astronomical Definitions". ----------- Ans. Q1 The changing of the seasons is explained by the deviation of the equator and the ecliptic. The earth tilts at a factor of 23.5 degrees to the plane of the Earth's orbital plane. When the northern pole is pointing away from the Sun we have winter in the Northern hemisphere while the opposite is true during the summer. For the Southern Hemisphere it is the other way round i.e. the seasons are reversed. This in turn also affects the length of the day during the different seasons at along side of the latitude scale. Ans. Q2: The cause is the declination of the Sun and tilting of Earth. This occurs at latitudes closer to the poles (60 degrees and above) at the times of the year where the tilted Earth is facing the sun at it's either north pole (pick around June 21st - summer Noth/winter south) or south pole (pick around December 21st - summer south/winter north). This causes the Sunrays to directly hit the areas around the pole during the entire cycle of 24 hours, causing "no rise" and "no set". The actual effect of this is mostly felt at latitudes of 60 deg. and above and increasing the closer to the pole one gets. Ans. Q3: The none moving bodies are the fixed stars used as the spectrum background for the constellations (Nakshatras) and the (division of the) signs. The moving bodies are the planets which are included in our solar system and its characteristics and relationships are used for astrological interpretations. Ans. Q4: Asc. (the rising point at eastern horizon) is 5 deg. Leo in my own chart while the dec. at the opposite side is at 5 Aqu. Between them is below the horizon and between 5 Aqu. And 5 Leo is above the horizon. Birth latitude is 32 deg. North of the equator and longitude 34 deg, east of Greenwich. Sun at 8 deg. Aries in the 9th house indicates a birth in early afternoon in the upper part of the horizon on the western side. Birth took place in Dakshinayana as it was April. In my chart the Moon, Ketu and Jupiter are in the lower part of the chart (under horizon) and the other planets in the upper part (above the horizon). The Planet closest to the Asc. Is Mars, a few degrees above it. End response lesson 1 Jay Weiss
