Guest guest
There was a lot written on Planet Moon sometime back on the sjvc-list. And also list members were invited to send in any stories regarding planets. I am enclosing an article that i read in one of the magazine recently. It tells about the origin of planets and how it became in 2 groups and their being Malefic or Benefic. I have given the whole article for the list members. Its long but i request the members to read it patiently. Hope to receive comments from list members and respected Gurus. ORIGINATION OF PLANETS Sage Vrigu was assigned by Lord Vishnu to create a system of judging human destiny so that the mundane world will adhere to the path of Dharma. Sage Vrigu created Astrology and the human actions of the mundane world was assigned a set of rules and these were to be controlled, supervised and dictated by heavenly forces. Sage Vrigu with due deliberations in the Swarga-loka under the expert guidance of Bramhadev and Mahadev, assigned these roles to "Grahas"(holders of authority). The "Indra-Sabha" chose the nine "Grahas"(planets) and assigned them each specified tasks to control and channelise human destiny. Shani-Dev requested Mahadev that as he has to perform the dual duties of Yamadev and shani dev, he be provided with assistance and the two pieces of the Demon (beheaded by Lord Vishnu for stealing Amrit) were assigned Shani-dev as his disciples. These two, known as Rahu (the bodiless head) and Ketu (the headless body) remained with Shani-dev as his faithful assistants but were assigned by Shani-dev to perform certain tasks independently. Having regard to the level of wisdom, Sage Vrigu chose Vrihaspati and Sukracharya and assigned these 2 DEVAS the task of assigning the " ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY " to other DEVAS to be called as GRAHAS by the mortals. Destiny is defined as "course of events channelising human fate and fore-ordaining the end result". Fate is defined as "power pre-determining destiny, which is a person's appointed lot". Thus while Destiny is inbuilt to influence actions, Fate is the result thereof. Human destiny was thus grouped according to the nature and quantum of various Karmas performed by a mortal in each life. The quantum of Sat/Su-Karma and Asat/Dus-Karma, were quantified individually and grouped as "Sanchita Karma". This quantum decided the nature, place and form of birth of a mortal. From this "Sanchita",those of the Karmas that are to be performed and fructified immediately are called "Prarabdha". The mortal in order to commence the "Prarabdha" has to channelise and initiate his physical self towards the desired direction. This self is called "Purusarth". Thus "Purusartha" is the tool and means of performing "Prarabdh". Through "Prarabdh", the "Sanchita" on both sides, get reduced/increased, and with the final result, the mortal reaches the abodes of Yama-dev where this "Balance-Sheet" is scrutinised and the next form and stay of the mortal is decided. The birth Chart indicates all the above three in their trines. Bhavas 1 to 4 are the " Purusartha", 5 to 8 are "Prarabdha" and 9 to 12 are the "Sanchita". Bhavas 1,5,9 ; 2,6,10 ; 3,7,11 ; 4,8,12 are complementary in functional aspects. To put it concisely, the triad represent the 1. Attitude 2. Behaviour 3. Consequences. These are otherwise the means, process and result of each action(Karma). Some authorities classify Karma into 2 more categories: Nis-Karma and Nis-Kama-Karma. Both Nis-Karma(inaction/non-action) and Nis-Kama-Karma (desireless action) are not Karmas, although a mortal in "Prarabdha" may perform both. As both these Karmas are self-regulated and self-motivated, no consequence follows as a result and so, both these Karmas, do not infulence Sanchita, at all. ( In other words it can be said that these two form as "Foot-notes" in the Balance-sheet). Surya, as the master of the "Heavens" above the mundane world sat in the selection process and the list submitted by the 2 "Gurus"(Vrihaspati and Sukracharya) were scrutinised and finally 2 groups were chosen from each. Group ONE : Leader : Vrihaspati Others : Chitrasen(Mars)Group TWO : Leader : Sukracharya Others : Yamadev(Shani dev)Vrihaspati preferred waning Moon while Sukracharya preferred waxing Moon.Lonely Mercury was preferred by Vrihaspati and Associated Mercury was preferred by Sukracharya. Surya remained NEUTRAL and did not side any group. In order to increase his authority, Sukracharya advised Shanischara to rope in two peices of demon : Rahu and Ketu and form a Nexus. Thus, finally, Surya accepted the set in his orbit and the system was put in place. Group ONE : Guru, Mars(Kuja), Waning Moon and Unassociated Mercury. Group TWO : Sukra, Shani, Waxing Moon, Associated Mercury and Rahu-Ketu. However, as Ketu, the headless body, had drank the nectar and became a DEVA, he was more at ease with Group ONE. However, as he was originally a Danav and his race is obliged to Sukracharya he had to remain associated with Group TWO. As a result, Ketu was trusted by NONE nor ignored by ANY. Individual ROLE ASSIGNMENT(Karakatwa) and BHAVADHIPATI(Lord of the bhava) status was assigned to all. To oversee the functions, Surya remained in the middle of the bhavas lording over the begining of the "Prarabhda" triad i.e. 5 th house: Leo. Surya, father of Shani was liked and respected by Sukracharya for the latter's "Gyana". Further Sukracharya had learnt divine medicine and had donated some of his "Mantras" to Surya. So the Group ONE planets did not trust Surya and Surya was dubbed as evil and cruel. Surya was much anguished at such a classification but continued to remain neutral to both these groups. Having observed Surya's posture and position, the Group TWO planets accepted Surya as their mentor and guide. Both Sukra and Shani preferred to remain neutral and powerless in Leo. Surya accepted neutrality in Vrishabh and Kumbha. Mahakal's curse being on Surya, his stay in Makar and Tula are treated as Surya's places of fall.
