Meeting with our Gurus

I happened to visit Delhi after years, this weekend. Managed to spend Sunday

morning with Sarajit, & the Sunday evening class of Gurudev, where I also met

Gurus Ashokji, Manpreetji, & others; & Saratji the next day. Without wasting

too much Net bandwidth, let me quickly summarise some astrological & some

meeting related things, esp for those who have never met them:

1. They came across as very committed & spiritual individuals. At the same time,

without exception, they came across as very fine, REGULAR & jolly individuals.

This was the first time I was meeting ANY astrologer in real life. Hence, it

was particularly ... for me.

2. I learnt more in those few hours of 2-way interaction, than months of

painstaking reading, etc. There is no substitute for 2 things: a) correct

meditation, thru which one gets all the answers one has been searching for,

oneself: (I was given my initial mantras), b) activation, by physical meetings

with our Gurus. No amount of reading books or the Net can substitute this, I

realised.

Specifically, Gurudev is EXTREMELY lucid & logical, unlike his very dense 1-way

e-mails, which when I read, my "dant kot kot kore"= Bengali for teeth start

chattering. Gurudev blamed that first (possibly to disarm me) on his painfully

slow typing skills, & later on a more serious note, on his wish to activate

people to think, so that all of us & our grand-children can learn lots of

astrology by ourselves, aeons later, when he is smiling at us from up there.

Incidentally, I must repeat, that the extremely young looks, freshness of

approach, jolly outlook, of Gurudev & all the other Gurus, completely zapped

me, having had images of them mostly from their photos & e- &

physical-writings. They blame all this on getting up before Bramha muhurt,

meditating & leading a spiritual & honest lifestyle. As I have given up

drinking a couple of weeks back (so cant give that up again), I also

immediately resolved to give up my other vice, ie leching at my wife (I havent

mentioned that to my wife yet, of course!).

3. They all have a lot (& variety) of imperatives, both personal & professional.

A number of obvious issues, which I could see. But are squeezing one helluvalot

of effort & time into teaching astrology to the best of their allowable

constraints. I could see that.

4. And yet, I did not see too many subscriptions to the magazine from our List

members, despite the fact that the mag is supposed to entirely fund the free

further educational programs being envisaged in the future. Further, they ARE

planning to arrange credit card facilities & open (well-networked) bank a/cs,

which will ease professionals like us, who wish to donate/ subsribe, etc, but

to whom, it costs more time & effort to write out a cheque & go to a post

office, etc. I was happy to hear about that.

4. The class itself was on Health & Disease. A very brief summary is (Gurus, pl

correct if anything wrong here): Diseases are of 2 types: a) Nija= from

internal sources vs b) Agantuk= ... extl. See both houses & lords as below.

A) Nija is of 2 types: 1) Sharir (body)= physical ailments= 8th house, 2) Chitta

(seat of consciousness)= mental ailments= 5 (as natural house of Sun (natural

AK), not 4= mind, which arises FROM chitta, is not chitta itself)

B) Agantuk: 2 types: 1) Drisht (visible)= from identifiable causes= 6, 2)

Adrisht (invisible)= ... unidentifiable/ unexplainable= badhak (eg DVK Rao's

chart discussed by Gurudev on the List last week).

Specifically, afflictions to the AK are very difficult to treat medically. Note

that for disease, one has to seet the root cause, ie the desire of planets to

afflict; so use graha drishti, not rashi ones. The charts of some of the

attendees were discussed, to identify potential health susceptibilities using

the above fundas.

5. Some other tidbits (it is 8 pm at work, need to get home, hence am hurrying this):

A) Merc Lagnas take for granted, & forget, the OTHER non-benign lordship of St.

B) In Budhaditya yog, watch for the 2 planets being in their natural houses, ie

Sn in 1/5, or Mc in 3/6 (obviously conjoined).

C) The weekday's Hora initiation starts at 6 am LMT & not sunrise, because the

Sun is EXACTLY overhead at LMT noon= fixed Vishnu/ Abhijit Muhurt, while

Sunrise (Bramha)/ set (Shiv) times vary, & ofcourse are unascertainable at

Poles, etc.

D) Urge/ obsession to collect things (eg books)= childish (so Merc) pulling

things to self (Lagna) books (Merc, etc).

E) 2 types of aspects: In Dhimant Yog, ie 1/5 associating with each other/ 3/6:

rashi aspects emphasised here, not planetary ones so much, because we are

looking at permanence of final effects, not just desire (graha drishtis), which

should be corroborated from other indications first (ie whether wisdom-seeking

desire is there in the 1st place). OTOH, for other RajYogs eg DKA, we need the

desire to do great things; hence use planetary aspects vs sign. Eg a DKA formed

by rashi aspects would be tolling the bell at the gate of a temple to collect

donations & feed his over-flowing stomach, ie rashi drishtis are"duties" which

HAVE to be done (so, have to manifest) vs planetary= deep desires.

Later I got cught up with other discussions, so I couldnt ask the question that

had been bugging me, ever since Zoran & Visti have managed to scramble my mind

about this Double Negatives business:

We have Natural benefics & malefics. They could be in good (kendra/ kon) or bad

(dusthan) places. So far, not too difficult to understand. Then, they may be

exalted or debilitated. And then again, retro. As each layer of detail is

added, this is a matrix where various Gurus have given various answers: in some

cases, they strengthen/ weaken further, some cases, REVERSE. I hope someone

could sort this out definitively. I can only recite the faint memory of a

Sanskrit shloka I strangely still remember:

markatasya sura panam (monkey gets drunk). tasya vrishchika danshanam (scorpion

bites it). tanmadhye bhoota sancharo (on top of that, the devil gets him).

yadwa tadwa vabhishwati (what do u think can happen to the poor monkey).

Well, I wish someone cd give me a clue on hwen it becoems this case, vs reversal.

Incidentally, I was exhorted to throw all my 500 odd astro-books & my

midnight-oil astro-notes painfully taken over the last 2 years, & start seeing

charts of friends with a completely fresh mind, without referring to any book

or notes. And (they did not say this, but I assume) to hassle the life out of

the Lists by asking why the known facts dont correlate with my reading of the

charts (what they wd hv said is: Sure, but after some meditation on this).

Now, one request: PLEASE listen to Narayan Iyer's e-mail atleast, if not mine, &

STOP this flood of "I agree", "thank u", non-astro what shd be/ shd not be done,

& so many other mails which CAN EASILY be sent to ONE person rather than to the

WHOLE List. PLEASE HAVE A HEART!Best wishes

Nandan
