Guest guest
Namaste, I am reading Saravali and encountered several discussions that bring some doubts to mind: 1. Sun and moon do not get involved in planetary war and therefore not subjected to Nipeedita? that is they themselves do not fight where the victor has the higher Longitude in a Rasi…is this correct? 2. Only the 5th and 9th are considered *strickly* trines and not Lagna. According to the commentator, R.Santhanam, the Lagna is not designated as a trine in any standard Jyotish literature e.g. Horasara, Phal Deepika, etc. I Can see that the Lagna is 9th from the 5th and 5th from the 9th - posing a reasonable argument that it too is a trine. Yet, the Lagna is then designated ONLY as a Kendra… can one of the Guru's comment on this? 3. Planets rulerships - ( chapt 7, sloka 13) Sun - rules the things I am familiar with , gold, kings BUT why poison ( Rahu owner?) , weapons ( Mars owner?), Mantras ( Jupiter or Mercury or Venus?) Moon rules water, salt, etc. BUT why sesamum ( Sani owner?), arrows ( Mars owner?) Mars rules blood, copper, army, red cloth. ( OK) Mercury rules earth, minerals BUT why King ( Sun owner?), gold ( Sun owner?) Jupiter rules virtue, auspiusiousness, BUT why gold ( Sun owner?) , bed ( Venus owner?), conveyance ( Venus or Sani owner?) Venus rules diamonds, ornaments, BUT why education? ( Jupiter or Mercury owners?) Saturn rules black, lead, iron, etc but why dead relatives ( Rahu owner?) Any help in understanding the questions above is welcomed…. Guest guest
Dear Frank, Namaste, I am reading Saravali and encountered several discussions that bring some doubts to mind: 1. Sun and moon do not get involved in planetary war and therefore not subjected to Nipeedita? True. Surya and Chandra are lights, and thus immortal. The only grahas they fear are Rahu and Ketu. There would be more on Graha Yuddha in future, I suppose there would be an independent lesson on it... We beleive that Lagna is both Trikona and Kendra. You see trikona( three konas). Lord of Lagna is always auspicious, being lord of kendra and kona (Yog Karak). It is true that most of the authors recognized Lagna as kendra only, for reasons of strength. Lagna is strong as kendras are strong. However, it is auspicious for owner of chart as konas are auspicious. For the strength reason, I suppose langa was omitted from Konas. 3. Planets rulerships - ( chapt 7, sloka 13) Sun - rules the things I am familiar with , gold, kings BUT why poison ( Rahu owner?) , weapons ( Mars owner?), Mantras ( Jupiter I also cannot agree that Sun rules poison. Sun with Rahu would give one expert in posines if in trines to Navamsa.. for weapons- sun rules light weapons, such as knife. Mantras- sun rules the Temple, and the East is place of worship, so Sun naturally rules Mantras as well. Moon rules water, salt, etc. BUT why sesamum ( Sani owner?), arrows ( Mars owner?) Yes sesamum is under Shani, but Moon rules all flora and fauna.... Arrows are mars and Guru (dhanu) Mars rules blood, copper, army, red cloth. ( OK) Mercury rules earth, minerals BUT why King ( Sun owner?), gold ( Sun owner?) Not King but Prince, not gold but mixed metals Jupiter rules virtue, auspiusiousness, BUT why gold ( Sun owner?) , bed ( Venus owner?), conveyance ( Venus or Sani owner?) Guru also rules gold, bed in temrs of regalship, not pleasures, conveyance is Venus, but Guru holds exaltation of Venus so he would promote comforts.. Venus rules diamonds, ornaments, BUT why education? ( Jupiter or Mercury owners?) Not education, just artistic skills Saturn rules black, lead, iron, etc but why dead relatives ( Rahu owner?) Saturn is Yama, the lord of Death Hope that it helps, Best wishes, Zoran -- Zoran Radosavljevic Jyotish Teacher at Shri Jagannath Vedic Centre mails: ahimsa (AT) NSpoint (DOT) net ahimsa (AT) neobee (DOT) net web address: http://www.sjvc.co.yu
