Dear Respected Gurus and fellow students,

Namaste.

I want to apologize for my lack of participation in the last weeks. It

should no way indicate my desire to learn jyotish and be a part of this group.

I was caught up with other obligations. But with some evaluations completed I am

able to participate more fully and complete lesson 4. It is taking me some time

because I am trying to teach myself proper interpretation of Vimshottari dasa

and trying to explain major life events from my chart. Though some events I can

explain easily others I cannot.

I was just reading Sanjay-ji's article "vimshottari #1" from the sjvc web

site: http://www.sjvc.org/Articles/vimsottari1.htm. In this article Gurudev

goes over details of how to determine the starting nakshatra in Vimshottari

and also whether Vimshottari or Astottari dasa is more suited. My

understanding is that if Rahu is in trines or kendras to lagna lord AND a night

birth occured in shukla paksha or day birth in Krishna paksha THEN Astotarri

dasa should be used instead of Vimshottari. Can someone please confirm my

understanding? It seems that this may apply to my chart because my lagna lord

,Saturn does trine Rahu and I was born at night during Shukla paksha. Would

the same methods of interpretation of Vimshotarri dasa apply to Astottari or

should I just use Vimshottari for the purposed of lesson 4?

Many thanks in advance for your guidance.

Best Wishes,

Karen
