Pujya Guruji:

Pranaam.

Following are my answers for assignment –1.

Q 1- “Explain the changes in season…….”

A- Intensity of heat received (by radiation) by any

surface, including earth’s crust is directly

proportionate to distance, as well as the angle of

recepient surface from source of heat. Sun is the

external source of heat for Earth.

Cyclical temperature changes on Earth’s surface are in

fact changes in exposure to heat from Sun.

Earth’s orbit around Sun is very slightly eliptical

but variation in distance from Sun is too little to

initiate so much temperature change on Earth’s

surface.

Primary reason is the constantly tilted axis of Earth

by 23.5 degree. Hence, During the orbit around Sun,

Earth’s upper and lower hemisphere alternately either

face the Sun or is away from Sun. Due to this, the

surface which faces the Sun receives more heat and

light from sun and the surface which is away from Sun

receives less. Hence as earth orbits the Sun, in

Northern and Southern hemispheres, temperature

gradually alternates from warmer to cooler. We have

segmented these temperature changes and named them as

seasons.

Q 2 - “ There are some days of the year when ………….”

A- This happens due to Earth’s little bit round

shape and the phenomena altenates between poles due to

earth’s tilted axis.

Due to spatial relationship between earth and Sun as

well as due to round shape of earth, near equator, sun

rays are more near perpenicualr to surface. Near

poles, Sun rays are more more towards being parallal.

Hence from near pole to equator only about half of the

earth is illuminated at a time and it gives the

impression of sun set and sun rise. However, on the

pole itself, when a pole faces the Sun due to tilted

axis of Earth, that prortion is constantly exposed to

Sun and there is no sun set or Sun rise. Hence, the

other pole is away from Sun and remains devoid of Sun

rays. This revrses, when during orbit, orientation of

poles towards Sun changes almost after six months..

If earth’s axis was not tilted, both the poles would

constantly and simultaneously have lighted sky with no

sun rise or sun set.

Q3 – “Parsara mentions two classes of ………….”

A-

1 Moving Heavenly bodies are called Graha(Planets)

and Non moving Heavenly bodies are called Nakshatra

(Asterisms)

2 Graha continuosly move through the asterisms in

Zodiac.Nakshatra have no movement and have fixed

position in Zodiac.

3 The Sun is the Lord of all Graha. But fixed 27

Nakshtra, staring from Ashwini, are basis of 12

Rashi which start from Aries.

4 Graha Move between Bhava.Nakshatra have fixed

position in Celestial globe.

5 Hence, Graha (Planets) have varied aspects with

other Graha and interplanetary longitudinal distance

among them have important predictive

consequences. Nakshtra have their own disposition

which by itself have prdictive significance for over

all disposition of the native.

Q 4- “If you are able to construct your own chart ….”
